Need Advice ASAP !

Looks like a hell of a cabinet.. .

It's not all solid wood, but the secondary wood is.. The drawer fronts are veneer. gonna be chip board under that.

The secondary wood has me scratching my head though.. some of it looks like it could be mahogany, like the sides of the drawer, which isn't something you would use for that. Pretty expensive and exotic for secondary wood.... Some looks like poplar maybe...and the bottom of the drawer looks like it's a ply...

I can't wait to see pictures of the whole thing. It looks to be really good quality though. I'm curious who made it. From the labeling of the drawers, I'm not thinking Barzilay at all..

Did this cabinet have installed speakers or were they separate from the unit? I also find that little Pioneer fuse box interesting since you didn't mention any Pioneer gear..

If that VN-35E stylus is there it could possibly pay back most of your purchase price. Depending on condition of course, if NOS then it alone is worth a couple hundred.

It appears that might be the one that's mounted on the TT - I've got to pull the TT out of the cabinet to check it out -- I don't want it nested in there anyway. I'll check that out and post back.

I'm puzzled to as the type of the interior wood - but a couple of guys at the estate wanted it really bad - both carpenter types. They almost crapped when I told them what I paid for and that was without any of the Dyno stuff or TT -- they told me the cabinet was black walnut - at least all the exterior of it. It matches my JBL L200's perfectly and I know they're walnut. I'm gonna try and snap a few pictures later on today.

The little Pioneer box ??? Have no idea what that is - it doesn't look like a Pioneer item inside to me ?

Nope, no speakers were installed anywhere -- he had separate speakers - Cerwin Vega ( can't remember the models - but there big suckers - not quite as wide as my JBL's, but taller - they have $295 on them - then 50% off tomorrow !

Its hard to tell from the photos of the drawer, but the secondary wood appears teak and the veneer looks like rosewood, in need of oiling. Though the veneer could also be teak. It is hard to tell from the photo. The style is Danish Modern 10-1 the cabinet is from Denmark. If it is for sure Danish it may be worth a good penny, that is if it wasn't a credenza that was chopped up to house a stereo. It is definitely mid century modern. Where are you located? That style of furniture let alone gear doesn't sit for very long around here(Central Cali).

Another guy there mentioned it looked like Teak to him -- I'm in Florida in the panhandle area ( Destin ) in between Pensacola and Panama City Beach. I do know that several others were hoping and planning to buy it today - another reason I stayed up all night and was there at 7:00 am - they opened the door at 8:00 and I was the 1st one in with money in hand !

Congratulations, that is a sweet score. Not sure if you are aware, of if it has been mentioned before in this thread, but you need to be carefull when powering up old tube amps if they have not been in use for some time. There is a good sticky thread in the Tube forum on this subject and a quick post in that same section about you new gear will get you all the help you need to do this safely while not damaging the amp. I know you will be happy with that ST-70 they are great amps with lots of useful modifications you can do for a few $$.

Wow! Good stuff and clean too. Any one of those pieces is worth what you paid for the lot. Congats.

Huh.. wow.. I never considered it being from Denmark... Yeah.. then it could very well be Teak..... What a hell of a score. Around here too Danish furniture sells for stupid money.. even an old console...

These aren't good shots, but I can't get an angle to it from where it is. All we did was get in the door into the foyer - it'll replace the one we have in our main living room over the weekend when my son gets here to help me move it. I can tell you that it's 2' depth x 3-1/2 high ' x 7' long and it's one heavy piece of furniture. Like the Dyno stuff that was in it - it needs to be cleaned up - lots of dust - but this thing is gonna clean up really nice. Couldn't get a good shot of the TT - I've got 5 or 6 TT's, so I'm not really hyped about it, but it might be pretty nice once I get it out.

These pictures don't do this any justice - I'll take some better ones when we get it moved over the weekend. Those two cutouts are where he had a couple of the Dyno pieces in -- I haven't put the drawers back in yet until I clean everything ! Not sure what I'll do about or with the cutouts. I guess I could always put the Dyno pieces back in there OR just finish cutting out those slots to keep the open pieces on the shelves that are there -- it might look better going that route - But I'm in no hurry to decide that for now !

That Ziploc is a hell of a good brand !!!, lolzzz
Tired . . .

Yeah, but that's a good tired.
Sleep well. You've not only got the score of a lifetime for tube gear and console, but you've found a place where people will generously offer help when you're ready and won't be out to take advantage.

Wow.. that is a hell of a nice console. I could see someone wanting to buy that and use it as a credenza in a dining room or something too... It would sell well here in the DC area....

That tone arm on that Gerrard would be something I bet a lot of people would love to get their hands on too I bet... Not something you see too often. Hopefully someone will know what it is... er.. I know someone will.. hopefully they will say soon...

You did REAL REAL REAL REAL good..

Thanks buddy -I'm in no rush at all - I did read a bit on starting up older tube stuff that hasn't been used for a while. I'm tempted to ride over and see if I can meet with the owner ( that had the estate sale ) -- and maybe he could shed some light on it's usage and when ! Maybe not though - you never know what led them to have an estate sale - might be a touchy situation.

Maybe it is Teak - that would be pretty cool to !

That would be true - I've had tons of it already ! And that's just posting what I got today !
