I'm thinking so to - however, I'm dumber than a sack of rocks with tube stuff - I mean totally clueless -- I'll figure it out. I've been really interested in getting some tube stuff - but I sorta thought I'd have learned something about it first, then this estate sale showed up and here I am. I'm sure I'll be glad I got this in the near future - HECK, I'm glad now !
 
The Dyna stuff is really popular, there are just loads of tweaks out there that'll make it really shine. And they're not too expensive, that's the nice part.

Now that the deal is done, you can start a new thread in Tubes and get a whole lot of help getting this gear up to speed safely.

Hi Jeff - thanks for the tips -- and yes, my exact plans are to head to the Tubes section and BEG for help - I'm totally clueless ! On top of that, my eyes are glossing over from not getting any sleep - but the reward was coming home with this stuff ! :thmbsp:
 
What kind of wood is this - these shots are from the inside drawers - they don't even show - the outside is finished out really nice. However, I had been told this was a custom made cabinet - BUT - I see left side, right side, stamped on the sides of these drawers ? So, I'm not sure now - doesn't matter - it looks incredible.

The first shot is a drawer full of stuff that came with the purchase - lots more in addition to this to.

Looks like you got more than I thought you where getting, can't complain there.So if you sold one or two things you could have the amp free, or gain some money.

glad you didn't stay up for nothing.


I would also say don't get all wrapped up into new tubes and all of that right away, but if and when, definitely change out those black capacitors and reset bias.

The only part of that I don't have is the PAS, I have a PAT but I plan on making it into a PAS as soon as I sell some stuff. Don't discount the fm-3, new PEC boards and a cap board to rid of the can and it will be as good as new. Once you have something to fire it up on (dim bulb if you don't want to buy a variac) make sure the tuning eye tube works, it's the heart and soul of the fm-3. Once I did my PEC boards it sounded like a new unit, I listen to it over any of my solid state tuners. I may as well the cat out now, I won a dead Marantz 120 on ebay 2 weeks ago, it's coming home next weekend. It will be nice to compare the 2. The st-70 is an easy mod with plenty of upgrade options on the market, they sound amazing for what they are. The PAS can also be updated, go on tubes4hifi and check out all the different upgrades.

So, you're saying it is a branded piece ( Ziploc ) - I'm not familiar with it, however, a couple of wood guys were there when I was loading it up and they said it was black walnut. I do know the wood is a perfect match for my JBL Studiomaster L200's -- I had thought it was going in my cave, but the boss ( wife ) just informed me it's going in the living room - that's ok considering it's where my main system is.

I'll snap picture of it later on today --- I did manage to get it home - paid a couple of big ole hoss country boss $20 each and they did it all.:D

I paid another $40 bucks to get it moved to the house - so I'm out a total of $265 - what a deal.

I have no plans on rushing into the tube stuff - I have a lot of reading to do before that happens !

 Oh crap - I just put my head square up my a __ __ -- I'm dead tired and didn't even think about the drawer of stuff I posted ! :no::no::no:
 
If that VN-35E stylus is there it could possibly pay back most of your purchase price. Depending on condition of course, if NOS then it alone is worth a couple hundred.
