Now in the ADS 910 club

Found this on audiohaulics forum:

"A/D/S was previously owned by Braun within the past decade and a half A/D/S became part of DEI Holdings or Directed Electronics which also owns Definitive Technology and Polk Audio. To my knowledge DEI Holdings still owns the rights to the A/D/S (analog digital systems) trademark and brand name although they have not produced any products under the banner since the early to mid 2000's. Some of their products have remained in circulation since that time due to low demand, probably the reason they no longer produce products for the A/D/S brand. Many of the last products produced were designed for custom installation and were meant to compete with Speakercraft and other high quality custom installation manufacturers."

Not sure if this helps, but could be worth a shot to contact DEI.

He is a pretty paranoid guy as it is. He doesn't want to risk loosing his business for it, and I fully understand that. If you can find a machinist who is willing to make them, I can send the cad file to them. I'd expect the cost to be fairly high though.

I sent a letter to DEI holdings, asking for written permission to reproduce the badges. Let's keep our fingers crossed, that we can reproduce them with their blessings. I'll keep you posted.

Sorry, just got back into this thread after a bit of time away. Lot's of stuff going on. I just packed up my tweeters up and they are headed to Richard to get fixed up nice. I can't wait to get them back in and working 100%.

Let me know how that letter goes. It's been a few weeks now, but I can only assume it's gonna take forever to hear back.

On a side note, I ran across a guy on reddit who picked up a pair of these speakers. $50 for the pair, worked perfect, badges and stands. WTF!??! Amazing for him. Not sure he knows how lucky he is.

Effen great deal! I paid 125 for mine and that was a steal!
Richard will work his magic on those. You'll be very happy!
I got an automated email thanking me for contacting them, asking to be patient they will get back to me, bla bla... so I called DEI as well, spoke with a rep who connected me with someone in marketing I think, left a voice message, haven't hears back. I'll try again.

Tweeters have been received by Richard. Looking forward to getting those back and installed. My McIntosh amp should be going in for repairs (hopefully) in a week or 2. That way I will be able to fully enjoy the stereo in all it's past glory.

Update on the guy who found a set of the speakers. https://www.reddit.com/r/hometheater/comments/50btwv/ads_910_refinish/
Thoughts?

On another side note, I just ordered a few chromecast audios. Going to hook a few different stereos up and have them playing at the same time. We'll see how that goes...

That's a damn shame what that guy did to those! Look like crap in my book!

I called and left another message, we'll see.

I picked up a set of speakers that had been refinished in white. My theory was that they were done that way to fit the previous owner's wife's choice of decor... in 1983... No idea why someone would do that in 2016. See my Marantz Imperial 6G thread for details. I don't know if paint would be harder or easier to remove than formica; maybe more labor-intensive, but less hazardous to the underlying veneer. At least the stands could be corrected easily.

Final update on the speakers. I got the tweeters back from Richard. He did a fantastic job on them. Installed them last night and enjoyed some music and some TV. I hooked a chromecast audio up to the C27 the other day and it works decent. It's a little buggy, but It sounds great. I know most of you are probably vinyl guys etc, but if you have something like spotify and love using it, this is a great wireless alternative. It uses your WiFi, and not crappy Bluetooth. It is very close to lossless.

I hope this was a sponsored message as there isn't anything about the sound of the speakers now. Oh well, most say they can't really document the sonic differences but they sense something. Yes, it is known that the drivers come back looking like new. I would expect no less for the fact that they are being sent in for a rebuild/refresh. And that wireless cloud server stuff, good info. Thanks.

I only had the small tweeters repaired. Both were inoperable. The mids and woofers were good to go, so they weren't sent in, though Richard suggested I do. After hearing the clarity of the highs, the crispness of the rebuild, I could see how the mids would sound better if refurbished. I will say, I don't have much of a gauge for the tweeters though, as I wasn't able to hear them before. I am going off of the difference in clarity between the 2 post rebuild. I will say, Richard was good. He got the package and let me know he did. Turn around was 1 week as he said. 0 complaints. I'd recommend him if you need something repaired or refurbished.
