NS 690 wire question

On the woofer of the NS690 there is not a positive or negative marked so my dumb question is is the brown or white wire positive . The woofers are frozen and I am going to replace them with 690III woofers .

Use a 9V battery to find out. If the woofer pushes outwards then the "+" in the battery corresponds with the "+" on the woofer.

Congrats on the NS-690, i liked mine (NS-690II) very much although bass was weak. So a NS-690 with a better woofer would be an excellent speaker!

Sorry, i did not read the question correctly.
Looking in my archives i find that in both the NS-1000, NS-1000M, and the NS-690, and in 80% of similar speakers, the "+" of the woofer is connected to the big inductor, while the "-" is directly connected to the "-" terminal of the speaker.

With this, you can see which of the terminal goes where.

Magnet shift.. These can be repaired.

And they should be, as only the NS690 MkI's have the vented dustcap.

Yes the magnet is shifted but also very corroded , the NS690III woofers have a white and brown color on the wire terminals , I just noticed as I was refoaming them so hopefully that tells me what I want to know . As far as the originals the magnets are chipped a little also , someone must have tapped on them a little to hard . The other drivers are not corroded so that's a plus .

Traced the wire in the cabinet , brown is positive . I guess I should have investigated further before asking .

Are you sure its corrosion and not just sloppy discolored epoxy. Usually rough handling will be the cause of magnet shift. The epoxy cracks and breaks.

Hard to believe the mid's and tweeters are clean , the cabinets are decent and don't see any water damage .

Was the crossover the same as the schematics i gave you? I want to confirm if these are for the NS-690 first version.

PS: I loved some of your films, particularly "Match Point" and "Bananas"

Thanks for trying to help but I don't think thats the right one , none of the wire colors are the same . BTW first name is Warren , funny though
