On Average How Often Are You Sick?

Used to be once a year or so,but back in November (and the previous one) went to see the doc for a flu jab,and haven't had flu or even a cold since.

No flu since getting the shot, maybe 8 years now. Get a cold or virus about every other year. I'm just getting over a bug that's been going around this area. My son said his friends all had it and were calling it the Black Plague.

I don't think I've had the flu in 10 years or more. I had pneumonia 'bout 16-17 years ago, and seem to get a cold once a year or every other year. I have chronic sinusitis as well, and keeping my sinus cavities flushed seems to make a difference for me.

My wife is an RN & she & the doctor I see, worked together at the VA Hospital, where Lauriann works.. My doc is from Buenos Aires, has a DELIGHTFUL accent, & is a rather attractive lady, I think. Anyhow, LAST year, Lauriann & Liliana decided I was gonna get a Flu Shot. I told 'em No, I didn't want one... Well, Lauriann was on one side of me, Liliana on the other, & I proceeded to have the Riot Act read to me... Take a WILD guess who DIDN'T win that argument...(grin)

I usually get one good whallop once a year and a couple of minor colds that clear in a few days. That one good whallop can have a 50/50 chance of developing into a sinus infection, bronchitis or both. This year - both. Picked it up at Christmas, took more than a month for it to start to clear. Even at this hour I have a minor tickly cough.

I had bad allergies for years - seemed seasonal and I was on Flonase and Zyrtec D in combination. Seemed like I was still stuffy, drippy and headachy. Due to high blood pressure, my doctor had me cut out the 'D' from Zyrtec. Due to cost I cut out the Flonase. Felt better and the headaches went away. Asked my doctor why and she said I was likely getting rebound congestion from overuse - my previous doctor had prescribed them. The headaches were contributed to by stress and uncontrolled blood pressure (on meds now.) This doctor is more about 'less is more' when it comes to medication. I like her!

Before kids: 0

After kids: Not sure but nearly every time they bring something home.

Sick for a few days now, thanks to the children. Began last week, spread throughout the house. Not enough sanitizer and Clorox in the world to stop what the kids bring home. Arggh. :thumbsdn:

Me, I get a bad cold/flu-like thang once or twice a year starting out as a throat tickle.
Re: Sandy's statement, my stomach has been out of whack ever since going on Chantix last August. Owell It's gotta beat smoking.
Oh! Just realized i haven't been sick since.
6 months to the DAY without a cigarette!

I was actually 'sick' last week. It's been 7 years since I've had any sort of dis-ease, colds included. Last week was a trip, it was like I didn't remember how to be sick so I felt all sorts of cool sensations. Ish. So once in 7 years for me. Before that I can recall having periodic colds, a couple years of allergies, the flu once (almost died) and rumor has it I had pneumonia as a wee child.

I don't get sick much.

I get a cold about once a year. The flu, almost never. I had a streak of non-barfing that went from 1985 (Hung over back when I was in college) till 2009 (kidney stone).

Agree completely.
Never have been sick as much - with various forms of crud - than when the kids were going to school.
They grew up, fewer illnesses. Out on their own, even less.
Now I babysit grandchildren regularly. Deja’ vu all over again. At least now there are Clorox wipes and hand sanitizer. Seems to help a little....
