Open Baffle Epiphany!

I finally bought a pair of new F-15’s - the regular ones, not the newer “Fast”. I’m going to build some open baffles for them but due to room constraints, they need to stay small. I’ll also be using a pair of subs with these, BTW.
My baffles are coming from a rubberwood (?) table top that someone tossed and they’ll measure 29” wide by 23 tall.

Question: will it be any problem to have these 6” wider than they are tall?
I can’t imagine it will but thought I’d ask you all..

It will not be a problem, The larger the Baffle the better the Bass will be...................................Personally I prefer a smaller baffle for the illusion of the disappearing speakers. I built several larger baffles and they can sound superb. BUT I also found with a smaller room and setting closer to the baffles the large sound wave made it impossible for me to imagine there were no speakers in the room

The baffle face sort of acts like an extension of the driver and projects a larger wave (Or something like that), Steve At Decware explains it much better and more technically than I can. More questions regarding the Lii F-15’s…

Being ”full-range” and trying to cover the frequency range as well as possible, how are they on treble? Are any of you F-15 folks using a tweeter with yours? If so, is it firing toward the listener, or..? If needed, what type of tweeter blends in well?
Yes, lots of questions. Plenty more where those came from, too…. :)

I love the F-15 as is. I'm late 50's and ears are not what they once were. I find the F-15 has a full organic sound after break in (approx 100 hours) they sound good straight out of the box but can lean a bit bright IMHO...................................I have seen a couple people pair the F-15 with smaller FR drivers I am actually trying that very thing now.......All I did was wire the 8" driver parallel with the F-15...............I have that driver pointing straight up at the ceiling. I am not convinced its worth it to have that driver...........................I LOVE the Full Organic sound of the F-15, The 8" driver seems to tighten up the sound stage a bit, and it does add some sparkle however I am finding that is a bit to much for my taste depending on the track played......

I tried some ribbon tweeters and honestly did not find they helped at all (Could have been my ears) I do have a pair of Fostex T 900A I could try but I dont have the Cap nor the experience to try one...............Not looking to buy an L-Pad setup at this time

Not finished yet and I know they’re much too close to the wall - but I had to hear ‘em..
Lii-Audio F-15’s in a reclaimed baffle, made from a table someone left out at the curb for trash. This is “rubberwood”, BTW, but the price was right!

These already sound very impressive! I’ll work on them more in a couple days…

I have and will allow my ears to make those decisions. I think they are doing alright They make me happy and I have had some folks with ears much better than mine try to get my help with systems and told me it was the best they had heard.............I felt that was high praise coming from a blind musician

No personal experience, I have heard mixed reviews, Some seem to like them others not so much, Try Decware Forums they do a lot with Lii Drivers over there..................Personally I feel like the sweet spot in the lii line up is the F-15, Gotta be bang for buck one of the best drivers. I have 2 pair one pair in case backups

I was about to pull the trigger on a pair of F 12s. Then I saw some independent fr measurements on them. All over the place. Big dips and peaks. Some posted actual recordings with their builds. Even with the knowledge that it was over YouTube I still didn’t like what I heard.
 
The F15 does seem to be the consensus burger. I can use either and the 12 takes more than 3 weeks to get. I got my 6-Silver in about 3 days. Maybe I'll just go right to the 15 then. Thanks!

Whole heartedly recommend the F-15, GIVE THEM TIME TO BREAK IN b-4 you write them off, at least 100 hours..............Though personally I found them very good straight outta the box
 
And the sound?

Different than what I had before. Good, but I’ve had to tweak placement, toe-in, and tilt. Also bass amp settings changed to slightly higher crossover point (200hz previously to 265hz now).

If you are familiar with the Liionidas design, of using separate top and bottom pieces, there is a different sound result with them. I was doing this previously, and now, one solid piece. I did this for aesthetics, but, so far, it does not sound quite as good.

Plus, the separate pieces before were acacia, and now walnut. So several factors have changed. Based on what I’m hearing so far, I might have had each baffle made in two pieces like before. I’m not writing it off yet - I’ll continue to make all around adjustments to see if I can get the previous magic back.

What are your two drivers and how do you cross them over? I'm a little surprised by the "265Hz" crossover point. Usually it is in the 100Hz range. Nice looking slabs, that's for sure!

Thanks! Lii Audio PT-10 full-rangers and W-15 bass drivers.

Bi-amped. Main amp for full rangers and Crown sub amp for bass drivers, with crossover and volume settings.
