This was one happy rescue cat. Sadly he went 10-7 on 10-7-24.

Forgive the mess, that’s my “hobby room” we moved a few years back and have been remodeling an older Victorian so we have all our belongings all over the place right now.
We have 3 cats, I’ve posted about them a lot in this forum and other forums on AK.
This is my baby girl Charlotte, she recently had some health issues as she’s getting up in age. She will be 16.
She has HCM and recently stopped eating, gave us a real scare. She was just refusing to eat anything. We took her in and they said it was her kidneys, and a few other things. My wife is really medical savvy and knew something wasn’t right, so she reached out to the cardiologist as she has been seeing Hunter our orange guy. He also has HCM but with medication it’s controlled.
The cardiologist looked over her file and said she probably has a slight infection from something and told us to give her a specific antibiotic. We ended up having to have her call the emergency vet and tell her that. The emergency vet was kind of annoyed and said it’s not normal for me to follow advice from another doctor but I’ll do it. That emergency doctor was young and didn’t seem to have the proper experience or knowledge.
So she was given the antibiotic and within a few hours started eating again.
She also told us Charlotte probably had water on her heart and Lungs due to the HCM and infection. So we ended up taking her to the pet hospital that our cardiologist is from, we would have taken her there 1st but our doctor there is only in on Wednesdays.
We ended up having to have the fluid removed and put her on Lasix to remove the water from her lungs.
Worked great, it helped with her breathing and she has been on the up side of this for a few weeks now. She has a follow up with the cardiologist on Tuesday next week. I took the day off to take her in for the check up.
We are truly blessed to have a really well studied cardiologist in our area who knows us due to Hunter. Hunter is a special guy and has beat the odds. He actually won the pet of the month club at Safeway, now in Santa Clara if you go to Safeway pharmacy you will see a massive cardboard picture of Hunter.
We are 99.999% sure Hunter and Charlotte are from the same litter.
Hunter is the best cat ever, he takes multiple pills a day and multiple times a day, not one issue. His sister Charlotte on the other hand has fought me everyday when I have to give her her pills.
I’m truly happy she has pulled through and is recovering.
Was really stressful for a few weeks. I love my cats.
