Oh Yeah the motor turns and it sounds great after repairing the RCA ends and Ground wires. Speed is Rock Solid! Amazing TT!
Only drawback, Manual TT... I thought it was Semi-Auto?
Oh Well.. It needs the Cueing plastic piece, broken off. I like the way you can adjust the VTA!

I still have the Denon, It is in the other LR system, I am thinning out stuff and want to get down to a nice basic system. My apartment looks like a electronics store, the wife is being Very Nice about the whole thing, but for how long..? Just testing ALL the TT's.
I have the Sony PS-5550 in another system..

My friend has a PL-500 with an Excel cartridge of some kind. I was jealous of it for years until I got my Kenwood, prior to which I had an assortment of low end Technics decks and a Dual, none of which had the solidity and authority the Pioneer did. We used to light up a thick one and argue about albums that we listened to in succession on that turntable.
The PL-500 had rock solid quartz locked speed, a heavy platter, full automatic operation and a nice looking arm...which sounds a lot like what you just got. That's a nice score you came across. What cartridge are you using? Looks like Pioneer compares well among turntable makers of the 70s. I much prefer the Pioneer/Technics S-arm approach to the flimsy Dual school of TT design.

Brings me back to the late 60's, I have the cart that came with it, I have a used DL-110 I am thinking of installing later. Having my Amstels on Music night!

I'm using a DL-110 right now and it kills me! I love it. I definitely recommend you get that cart on there sometime soon :tresbon:

I don't understand why you'd want to do this. Yes, the speed is rock solid, but it is the arm that is responsible for the excellent sound. I can think of dozens of other turntables where changing the arm would be justified--not this one--or this series, for that matter. Unless the arm is damaged, that is.Hello again, Can the arm be upgraded on this TT? Has anyone done this?
Would be and interesting project, being that the plinth needs new cover anyway.:scratch2:
