PL-550 in the house!

I love the look of these Pioneers, I recently passed on a PL 55D for $50, obviously a mistake but I'm sure another one willl come around. Looks like a fun project, good luck. Quick question, how does one make a new a plith?

I just e-mailed a lady from craigslist looking to get rid of her parents 70's receiver and speakers for free, hopefully I can move to another part of this forum if the deal goes through.

I don't understand why you'd want to do this. Yes, the speed is rock solid, but it is the arm that is responsible for the excellent sound. I can think of dozens of other turntables where changing the arm would be justified--not this one--or this series, for that matter. Unless the arm is damaged, that is.

I was just curious if anyone has done this, Not saying I was going to change the arm,it does sound great! I am putting this in storage for now so I can finish my other projects. I just fixed the cueing plastic piece, is there a fluid that slows the cueing down?

DL-110 MC can work with the SX-850 phono input??

This on drops when the lever is released.

This one takes 500,000 (500K) weight silicone damping goop. You can find it at RC hobby shops and websites called diff (differential) oil. You remove the nut inside that holds the cylinder in place, pull it out from above, disassemble it (c-clips and springs--make sure you don't lose them), clean it, apply new goop to the lift shaft, then reassemble. You might want to check it first before putting back the nut--sometimes it takes a little experimentation to get the rate just right--remove or add goop as needed.

DL-110 works with MM phono stage, so I assume it should work fine on the SX-850.

Do you still have the bottom removed? I was wondering if you could do a comparison check for me. I have a PL-550 and the neon bulb is out. I'm curious if your leads to the neon lamp read the same as mine. Could you check and tell me what yours reads in AC amps. Thanks !!

I can check tomorrow, I put the bottom back on and am working on another project because the parts arrived today.

Did you get the Service Manual for the TT?:scratch2:

It would have the specs you need or wait till tomorrow.

I have the manual

but it does not specify the AC amps to the neon lamp. I can wait, no problem. I'll check back later. Thanks
