You know I have had the worst time securing a good table for various reasons over the last several years....:sigh:
But..., I picked up this beauty from RC and it's a great runner...:yes: I had a GA 212 in the spare gear room that Sleddogman sent to me last year that I had no real clue as to it functionality because the head-shell attachment needed a re-solder on the red lead. (a real POA for Mr. Allthumbs here.
) Anyway I tried the head-shell from the 312 and other than the lights being out the 212 works and sounds excellent....I fumbled through the repair and through sheer tenacity I got her fixed.....And then there were two

I don't have this yet, but I am going to pick it up Sunday. A really nice lady is selling it, and said it's mine, no worries. We talked for quite a while on the phone.. She was excited to hear an "audiophile" that likes all things old would be getting it and actually appreciate it.

I need to get the cabs for them built.. I was waiting to get the Altec speakers before I knew what I wanted to build. Now I'm thinking 7 feet tall, about about a foot wide.. more like rails to stand next to the stacks..

That Pro-Ject looks like a cool turntable! Is the platter made of MDF? I seem to remember reading that Pro-Ject used "new" materials for their platters.

A Modest Garrard collection for your appreciation...
Hello all,
I am more or less new to this, but I have compiled a modest collection of Garrard units with the only limitation that they have been made here in Swindon UK, where I live - so between +/-1915 and 1992 - and my purpose is to gather as much as I can about them including documents, manuals, accessories, original mods and of course the record (and tape) players - not forgetting Gramophones.
The purpose of this post is to show a few of my items and to wait for your comments. This is a long term project, and also is a passion, but I would love to have your expert comments.
You won't find a 301 or a 401 because these have extremelly inflated prices, because I plan to find one as original as possible, and also because I believe those will still be around when most of the others have disapeared, and that will give me time to pick and choose (when I have the money):scratch2:.
I will keep adding to this site as long as I have the time to do it.
I am not here to sell anything, I am available to supply details or copies (within my availability - My job takes me constantly away from my babies), and most of all I want to keep the Garrard flame alive. These were greatly engineered machines - with commercial exceptions - and I am always looking for more, the older the better, to give them a shelter or sanctuary if you will, where they will be given all the deserved TLC following the original service and repair manuals that I also have been gathering all these years...

Marantz 500, yes the platter is MDF, the platter is also vinyl-coated and records are fixed with a threaded spindle-clamp.
TJlitt the nail polish is for cleaning the stylus put on a thin coat and let the record wear it off while playing. Then after that clean it with a little acetone and recoat it. Thats my little secret:lmao:

Alex very nice collection of Garrard products, more than I can recall seeing in
one place at one time.
I have but a couple of note,the 301 bearing grease and box, 301 stroboscope,
and an un restored early grease bearing 301.
Please keep us Garrard followers up to date with your collection.

very nice and clean looking TT. Mine is very close to the same condition as your's. it's a simple looking designed table, but it's looks are what attracted me to it. :thmbsp:
