Post Your Marantz Gear Here!!!

These two will be introduced to one another once the 2238B gets back from the Tech. I've received mostly positive feedback on using the receiver as a preamp, so I'm going to pair them up and see how it sounds. 2238B receiver and Model 240 power amp.

Currently a 2238B, and a 1060 I just recapped.
2215 in the attic, for parts.
Remembering my 1090 and a 250.
I got away from the hobby for a while, but now after doing the recap on the 1060, I'm feeling a little bug. Not much, just a little.

4140 integrated as a preamp into a rebuilt 1122dc and a set of pretty uncommon model 400 speakers.

I have a set of those same little Marantz speakers. Don’t see them often. How do you like them.

So my neighbor ask me if I want some wood cases from some old equipment her husband had. I say sure and this is what she gave me. Marantz Model 250 amp, Model 3300 pre amp, and a Model 20 tuner. Plug everything in and it works great. I have it hooked up to a pair of Hitmakers built using plans by Paul Carmody. Sounds good but thinking I may need to try something different.

I recently shared photos of the Model 240 Power Amp that I added to my main setup. Someone suggested that it would look cool with a custom, backlit logo faceplate so I started thinking about what that could look like. Here is a Photoshop comparison of the two options I would consider with the current look at the top. I tend to lean toward the middle option.

I have also searched for online vendors who sell such a product and have had no success. The only examples I have found are old Pinterest photos. Any ideas where a feller should search for such a modification? TYIA.

Get some polycarbonate milky plate and send a Marantz logo by email to graphic studio. They could cut you a sign from self adhesive foil of any color with ploter. Job done. If you cant find milky plate they have foggy foil for privacy and you can achieve the goal that way.
BTW 3rd version is best imho.

That is exactly my approach. I bought a couple 12" x 8" sheets of light blue acrylic off the rain forest place, downloaded a vector logo file and set up the art for a friend who is going to die-cut black vinyl appliques of both versions on her Cricut machine! Hopefully, the incandescent bulb inside the amp is enough to light it up. We shall see.

Theyre great but the tweeter control on one of them is sheared off so its hard to set it properly, i really need to get it repaired. They came with the original receipt from 1982

I only have one Marantz but I love it. Mine is the Marantz 2330B. Its sound is unique among the 12 receivers and three separates in my collection.
I have been slowly collecting select vintage (1970's) receivers (not amps, preamps or tuners) for over 15 years. Right now, I have a Pioneer SX-1250, Fisher RS-1080, Hitachi SR-2004, Kenwood KR-9050, Sanyo JCX-2900K, Realistic STA-2100D, Nikko NR-1415, Rotel RX-1603, Sansui QRX-9001 (Quad), Toshiba SA-7150, Marantz 2285 non-B, 2330 non-B and 2385. Now, the only ones that are guaranteed to always appreciate in real money (not just the inflation rate) are the Pioneer SX-1250 and (almost) any Marantz receiver. The Marantz name is 'gold' (for good reason) in vintage stereo electronics. Personally, I have zero interest in anything below the 2285 (non-B) and above the 2385. That is why I only have those three. You are correct about the sound - very pleasing.
