Random Thoughts or Whatever

0.999… = 1.
Not just very close, but precisely identical:

a = 0.999…
10a = 9.999…
10a - a = 9.999… - 0.999…
9a = 9
a = 1

All one needs is arithmetic and basic algebra to prove this counterintuitive point.

10 times .999... might equal 9.999 but..
9 times .999... does not equal 9
So a can't equal 1

Algebra is fake math, and I have a headache.. stop making me think... :whip:

Theorem: 5 = 4

Proof:
-20 = -20
25 – 45 = 16 – 36
5^2 – 45 = 4^2 – 36
5^2 – 45 + 81/4 = 4^2 – 36 + 81/4
(5 – 9/2)^2 = (4 – 9/2)^2
<take sqrt of both sides>
5 – 9/2 = 4 – 9/2
5 = 4

and you can also prove any number is equivalent to any other one. :)

I’ve been thinking about Cash lately. Here’s a couple of his thoughts:

You can ask the people around me. I don't give up. I don't give up… and it's not out of frustration and desperation that I say I don't give up. I don't give up because I don't give up. I don't believe in it.“

“You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don’t try to forget the mistakes, but you don’t dwell on it. You don’t let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space.”

5-9/2 = 0.5
4-9/2 = -0.5

Therefore, 5-9/2 /= 4-9/2.

You are getting sleeeeepy.

You are mine now.

According to data from MRC Data, almost no one listens to "new music": old, some might say decrepit, material from the Seventies and Eighties currently represents approximately 70% of music being purchased / streamed / etc. in U.S. markets.

Let's rock around the clo... oops ... that's not Seventies or Eighties. More like...

I wonder how often Bono struts before a mirror wearing only his American Leadership Medal, while mouthing the lyrics to “You’re the Best Thing About Me”?
