Realistic STA-2000D receiver ...

My STA-2000D is the first unit for which I have tried building replacement side panels. Admittedly, I am no woodworker, but a friend of my friend is pretty handy with a table saw. I found a nice shelf piece at a thrift store that happened to be the exact width and thickness, so all we had to do was cut the proper lengths and drill mounting holes. I'm quite pleased with the results. (BTW, if the round black spacers for the mounting holes are stuck in the original panels, rubber plumbing inserts work great.)

Looks nice!

anytune; the replacement side panels you built look great.
jleon92f; the vinyl ones you fashioned turned out well too.
It may take me a few weeks or more to finish the ones I had planned (out of the table leafs) but I'll post pics back here when I'm done.
jleon92f; your 2000D looked pretty beat up when you got it but it's coming along well. It seems these old buggers didn't get much respect back in the day and were abused more than usual. The fact that they still work and sound great to boot is a real testiment to the original build quality.

Thanks, this one is from AZ, there is a # scratched on the bottom. The sound is amazing so far. I am going to hook it up to a system this weekend.

I buy a lot of components from the recycling plants out of piles of stuff, thats must be how they get beat up.

Thanks again.

Hey man, your STA-2000 looks like it's coming along great so far. I had to do a shaft replacement on mine too. I used a barrel adjuster from a bicycle brake for mine. A lot like what you designed. And mine's working great. Mine was in pretty rough shape when I got it. Missing most of the knobs and stuff. I went to my local radioshack and picked up some universal knobs. I had to mod the shafts a bit to make them fit perfect, but once I did, it looked great. I also lost the dual concentric bass/treble function, but I just centered them out and didn't worry about it.

It's one of the best sounding receivers I've ever heard. While it was rated at 75wpc, it's pretty common for 3rd party bench test to show the range of 100wpc. I have mine powering my Mach Ones. Truly a match made in heaven. I picked up both the receiver and the Machs for $30. With some work, amazing sounding setup. Even for what they cost new, they shouldn't have sounded that good. lol

Thank you, I enjoy the bringing it back to life part. I am going to put this in my vintage system for a while to see how it sounds with some good EPI speakers. It will replace my Kenwood KR-7200 that needs to be service anyway.

Have any pictures of your STA-2000D?

Mine so far..

Fixing the selector shaft today, JB weld...half of it is still there.

I put wood filler on the side panels to fill in the gaps.

Very! Heavy amp...

Thanks,

Recently acquired the 2000 a couple months ago. Just needed cleaning, looks and runs great. Been very pleased with it so far. Mach One's sound best, so far, with this receiver. Just acquired some AR-3a's and might give them a try, but not looking forward to carrying the buggers upstairs. Not at all.

I once carried by myself a SX-1250 Pioneer! A friend wanted me to look at.

That was a mistake..

I should have the side panels done today and in my LR system this afternoon!
Repaint the top, Etc...

It will be hooked up to some test speakers 1st, KLH 911B bookshelf model.

Rated @ 5-100watts. Very efficient speakers.

Thanks,
