I woke up to 6" of snow this morning, and the storm has pretty much shut down travel on I-25 between Colorado and ABQ. I was expecting my new Freya+ today, but FedEx just sent an update that it is stuck in Henderson CO (Denver area) and won't get here until next week due to the weather.

It is the highway through Raton Pass then down toward Santa Fe that gets choked up every time it snows, causes one or two day delays all the time.Six inches of snow slows down deliveries in Colorado? Here, things just continue like nothing happened. I wouldn't have thought that would happen there. Hopefully you get your delivery on Monday! Thankfully, no snow here in my part of The Great White North yet, though! I don't want to see 6 inches of snow for at least another month, but November can be a fickle month sometimes. lol
PurdyI bought a quad of the newish Psvane "Horizon" 6SN7 (CV181-AT) tubes to go in the new Freya + should sound nice if they are not damaged by careless Amazon delivery folks...

I moved the Psvane CV181-AT tubes from the office Freya+ out to the main systems Freya+ and let them play the classical FM station all day while we did yard work (yuck). Late in the afternoon I settled into my easy chair and played various tunes off Tidal for two hours. These tubes are holographic as hell with strong bass and sweet highs. The mids are a bit forward (I'll have to play around with the Loki Max tone controls some more) but not intrusive, they make very easy to understand what Eddie Vetter is mumbling on about. Tomorrow after the gym workout I'm going to play a lot of vinyl (Steely Dan, ZZ Top, Floyd, etc.)
I like these tubes.
I haven't seen tape loops on new equipment since the mid 1990's- I think most manufactures dropped them back then. There may be a few who still make them, but I don't know who...So if you want the EQ to affect all your sources you need to put it in between the pre and the amp.
If you only have one source to use eq put it between them.
Seems like Schiit has decided that we don’t need any line level loops. Although they acknowledge that it is a location that provides a better noise floor.
No soup (tape loop) for you!
Got a Gjallarhorn on the way - early Xmas present. Will pair with the Saga 2 preamp I got last month. I'm interested to see if any noticeable differences between the Schiit and my other Class D smaller amps when paired with the Saga.
Yes, I( know. I really like the various new amps from Fosi, Aiyima and SMSL but I understand Schiit's position on them. That's the whole point in comparing a low watt AB to the D amps. You know the Gjallarhorn is class AB don't you? I doubt you'll ever see a Schiit class D amp.
yeah, that would be unlikely. Although they have now gone into the software business with their just announced Forkbeard system. Since their move to Texas, they are really expanding the product line. https://www.schiit.com/about/news/forkbeard-launchesYou know the Gjallarhorn is class AB don't you? I doubt you'll ever see a Schiit class D amp.
I disagree with this - while a few things have gone quickly, like the weird turntable, overall their product development seems pretty regular and they continue to offer a nice range of products for both the value-oriented customer as well as the upper regions. As much as I like Fosi and Aiyima and SMSL, they seem to be fess focused in their product development. Just to look at Fosi, for instance, they keep focusing on amps with switching power supplies while not delivering a tube-less preamp or other V3 series items to offer an integrated component system, and now they even have an upper-end division making fairly pointless things like a chrome-plated $1400 headphone amp ($100 more than an RME device, ha).Sorry but there is minimal value proposition to the Schiit Class AB amps, especially the small-wattage ones, IMO. I've owned gear from Schiit, including the original Vidar (which hummed from the transformer) and Saga+ and two different Modi models. I've also owned Class D amps from Fosi, Aiyima and SMSL. The Chinese Class D amps perform very well and cost peanuts. In a world of $250 Fosi V3 monos amps from companies like Schiit cannot compete going into the future.
I appreciate that Schiit experiments with their product line, but plenty of their products seem odd to me and often disappear after relatively short runs. They're just all over the place. I don't see them as a trustworthy company in that regard and if they announced tomorrow that they're shutting down I wouldn't be the least bit surprised.
