It would perfectly match my AU-717, TU-717, SE-7 -set and compliment my other "semi useless today" piece - the AX-7.

At first I cringed when I saw this. But then I thought "If I owned the Sansui brand name and had money to burn, what products would I make in 2026?"

And that picture looks more attractive :rflmao:

Actually I prefer the natural lighting used on the TU-7700 for example, than the later greenish lighting Sansui used on the meter dials.

So the aesthetics of that image look good to me
 
Added a new triple digit to the rack this week. A very clean 100% original and untouched 1971 AU-999. I'm the first person to take the inner covers off and I know this because I had to break the green factory glue on the screw heads. DC and bias are good so I didn't touch the trimmers. It sounds wonderful and I won't be doing a single thing to it unless a repair becomes necessary. The notion that there is some kind of problem with the original voicing or bass output of this amp is beyond my ears. I've been tweaking the ADS L810s and reorganized the rack yet again. The stack and the soundstage are really dialed in at the moment.

You just need a Sansui TV to cmplete the setup! (Only saying that because I saw a Sansui TV at Salvation Army yesterday - I was not tempted.) :p

I do need a new tv! Mine is pretty old actually and doesn't have ARC HDMI. It's the last piece of the puzzle to get the TV audio running through the system. I just don't want to pull the console out and hang it!

Hmmm... it seems that the forum software does something to the resoiution. It is totally sharp on my computer at original resolution. Maybe it should be hosted in outside service to get full quality?
 
@aileenamegan, those larger Z series receivers are still fairly underrated and overlooked. The aesthetic doesn't appeal to a lot of people (being so uber 80's) but I'll confess that I rather like it. I had a Z-9000 some years ago that worked, but was a cosmetic basket case. I sold it to a guy who needed good electronics to restore one that was cosmetically mint, but badly roached internally. I'd almost like to have a nice one in my collection, but can't really justify another big receiver at this point.
 
A Z-9000 still is waiting to be reanimated. It has been cleaned and just needs to be controlled/serviced. But after, has to go. The era of collecting - for me - is over. My children don't share my passion for this old gear.

Y'all know I'm sonically committed to the early 70s gear. Nonetheless, I wanted to give the 80s a couple spots on the rack with my D907X and X701. Far be it from me to leave well enough alone though. The FiiO Warmer R2R Tube DAC finally showed up to give these fast clinical X-balanced and Alpha beasts a little soul and a shot of tone when streaming. I'm also really digging the JBL L36 Decades. For the time being they've supplanted the ADS L810s. They are super aggressive and forward, a completely different animal than the infinitely smooth and clean L810s. The West Coast vs. East Coast distinction can't be missed. Given my room and the boundaries at play, the single front ports on the L36s are really throwing a good balanced soundstage and center image. Something the acoustically suspended L810s were struggling to do.
