Show us your dinner - no home cooking

I don't have a picture but today my wife and I went to what used to be the best diner in this area. The only diner I know where the burgers are on-site made patties of exceptional quality rather than frozen ones uniformly cut, packaged and shipped from somewhere else. We have not been there since pre-Covid. What a disappointment, they are now the worst diner at least my burgers were. I felt kinda queasy when we left actually. On the upside my wife suggested we stop at a local bakery instead of ordering dessert and there we found AMAZING real ingredient versions of Hostess Cupcakes!

My wife and I finally made our lifelong dream trip to Italy just got home two days ago. We were there two weeks in Sardinia Florence Spoleto and Rome. Probably the finest meal we’ve ever had in a restaurant was in Spoleto. Please don’t ask me all what it is. I remember some details, but we were terribly sleep deprived as we never adjusted to the time change so a lot of it was a blur, but here was the meal that we had for my wife’s birthday dinner at a multi Michelin award restaurant in Spoleto. I do recall there’s a beef fillet there with truffle mushrooms, trout, tartare, and pork tenderloin.

Terrible pics (low light + old phone + bad photographer), great food!
One of my friends and I went to a restaurant which we hadn't tried berfore, and it was the best place either of us had been to in a long time.
We started with a couple of gillardeau oysters:

Cold marinated cod with citrus, and kohlrabi:

Mussels in a mussel consommé with yeast, seaweed, and kale:

Celeriac, cod roe mousse, herbs:

Halibut, salsify, sauerkraut-sauce:

Fried chicken sandwich at The Little Gull cafe in Speonk, NY. A nice big organic chicken breast deep fried on a house made brioche bun with house made purple Cole slaw, tomatoe, lettuce, pickle slices and their special sauce. Looked better before I hacked in half to make it easier to handle. Served with their excellent French fries.

I'm still alive!
The Lovely Blanche and I had a spectacular dinner at a Bensonhurst, Brooklyn hidden gem called Ortobello Restaurant, a 50 year old Italian restaurant everyone drives by. Fortunately, we got there just after it opened, because it filled up fast. We started off with garden salad that came in a garlic-rubbed wooden bowl along with an incredible aged balsamic reduction. I had unbelievably fresh baked clams while Blanche had a Caprese salad with milky fresh mozzarella, garden fresh basil, roasted red peppers and perfectly ripe tomatoes. Next, Blanche wanted to know if she could have rigatoni with vodka sauce (not on the menu), to which she was told "why couldn't you?" I had a huge veal parmigiana with homemade marinara and perfectly cooked penne. It was one of my top ten meals of all time. If you go, bring cash and don't be in a rush because everything is cooked to order. It's a family owned place and the family loves what they do. It shows in the service and the wonderful food.
