Here's a photo of my latest motorcycle. I was lucky enough to find it almost like the photo. The story I heard from the dealer was that it was purchased and built the way it was by a Charlotte, NC cop that ended up needing to sell it. The dealer took the bike in on consignment. After I purchased it I found the scratch in rear fender covered by the seat. I guess in the course of putting the seat back on they weren't paying attention and the rear screw put a nice scratch that they did a terrible job of touching up. All the other stuff on the bike distracted me. The chrome front end, the wheels, the chrome hand controls. Anyway..I bought the bike with only 1700 miles on it. Because of work I've only ridden it for another 1000 miles. It's a 2007...so despite it being 5 years old its virtually new.
I added the windshield, crash bars, highway pegs and air intake and a fancy shift linkage. I was getting ready to add ape hangers but was laid off. I don't have a place to work on bikes and when the dealer quoted me $1800 I put that mod on hold.
Now the story about how I found it. My bike was dropped off the truck by the mover when I was on my way from Maine to NC to start a new job. Insurance gave me almost $10K for my 2003 Road King Classic that had 38,000 miles on it, the dealer gave me $1500 for my bike and they wanted $15,000 for this bike. Maybe a little overpriced but with everything already setup it was as close to a custom I'll probably ever see. I paid the difference and a 'new' bike. I had a Fatboy before and I liked it a lot. That's what this bike started as so to me it was like getting another one.
I like Harley's but I also like the Japanese bikes...as long as they aren't the ones that try to look like Harley's. The old inline 4 cylinder bikes or the newer sport bikes look cool.
If I was offered the right price for my bike I'd take a Yamaha or Kawasaki sport touring bike. Despite my bike looking cool it doesn't handle like a sport bike. I want something different than what I have now...Blake
