Post up a pic of an XS650, and the first thing anyone says is CHOP IT! or BOB IT! Can't imagine why anyone would want to mess up a perfectly good motorcycle!

Been riding this one for a few years now. You'd be amazed to find out how many VMax parts bolt right on.

.....I like the looks of that design a lot....is the seat stock?......Here's another fun one ... 1981 Virago ... first Japanese v-twin ever. Still got this one too, and it's still a fun ride.

First off, it's not a Venture ... it's a 1996 Royal Star. They didn't come up with the new Ventures till 2005 if I remember right. Maybe the body work fooled you - did some digging in the barn and came up with a Tracy fairing, a Yamahopper trunk and KG bags, then made up the rest from there. Not to worry - I get a kick out of Venture owners looking it over and trying to figure out just what the hell it is.
The Virago seat is stock - with a new cover. The old one shredded after about 100k, so I ordered a new one from Sergeant's. Great stuff. The woven kevlar fabric and gray piping were optional but add a nice touch.
Not to forget the XS650, I did cherry out the paint last fall and added the stock emblems. Only thing NOT stock is the Dunstall headers. I also played some with the gearing, but ... hey ... nobody's perfect.

.....sorry about that, SKiZo, I thought it was a Venture....then again, it doesn't have a fiberglass trunk....I kept up with Ventures between '83-'93, but when I got the first V-max in '93, I stopped considering any other motorcycle....I sat on a Royal Star 1300 a few years ago....the only problem was, I leaned to the side looking down and only saw two cylinders
..........here's the story on Venture from Wiki....Ventures have relatively the same 4-cylinder engine design as a V-max, but the V-max has much stouter gas and air inputs.....

Never tried that... I like brakes, and if I recall, you can't have them for Speedway!

Venture Riders has an annual get together - I hooked up with them last year in Northern Georgia ... some amazing machines ... still ticking strong with whole bunches of miles on em. Then again, they couldn't figure out what the Rat was either ... <G>
My latest project was front brakes. I ended up with a set of R1 calipers driven by a Honda VTX master. The stock brakes faded fast in the Tail, but these hung in there strong.
Pretty sure that voided the warranty.
Oh ... fun story. I first saw the bike in the backroom at the local dealer when I went in to order some parts for the Virago. Walked by, thought ... hey ... nice twin! Came back a couple days later to pick up parts, saw it again and thought ... wait a second ... weren't the pipes on the other side? Well, goOOOOooooleeee ...

Agreed! I've been fooling around with the front brakes on my '85 VMax since I got it in '08, and am still fooling with them. I started to put a '98 VMax setup on the front, but I found out I'd have to do major mods (triple tree and all), to do that. So I've settled for new pads and hoses on the original brakes, and just keep extra distance. Other people have put R1 brakes on VMaxes, and I should look into that to see if it's less mod work than newer VMax brakes.

Not so, my Venture is the 1st year of the 2nd Gen of Venture, 1999 was the first run. I also had a 1st Gen 1988 "Pics Below". The first gens were very quick. Damm near VMax quick.
