Silvertone amp and tuner

Have a chance to purchase silvertone 1029 amp and tuner, guy says it works on am all tubes light up but one.
Should I snag it? Always wanted a tube unit..

Nothing wrong with that. The only thing I have every tried from silvertone was an integrated amps, Black/silver with big round dial knobs, then another one with the dials hidden under the front . I forget the model numbers but it sounded pretty good. The only fault I found was a thin circut board that needed some re soldering on it as well as by passing of it because it was just too brittle to take a solder. Both were tube units using EL84`s and I think 7199`s or the same tube dynaco uses on the ST70`s drivers.

I looked up model 1029 in the Sams index and it said similar to model 29, which I found in my files. Also model 28 tuner - 14 pages of service information in total. Zman's recollection is correct - 7199 driving 6BQ5s.

Can't get any sound to cone out of the amp the speakers hum but no sound from tuner or my tone generator will post pics when I get out of class

Make sure the 12AX7 is lighting up - its heater is used as the cathode resistor for the output tubes. If it goes open, amp will be dead.

does not appear that the 12ax7 is lighting up doesnt look like one of the 6bq5s is lighting up either
