simply speakers AR woofers

Looking for opinion on "simply speaker" AR woofers? It says OEM, but are they new production or old stock?

I would expect they are new production acquired from ABtechservices.com. ABT is the only provider of as close to original AR parts. The company was originally started by former AR employees who sold out all of the remaining OEM stock. They then had new stuff built to 'original specs' by S.E. Asia mfg. firms.
Visit ABT's site and compare the images and prices with Simply speakers and decide for yourself.

I was wondering if there was any advantage of using those newly built woofers compared to refurbishing original. They seem to be around little over $300 per pair for the new ones.

Simply Speakers sources all of their AR drivers from AB Tech. They often fit the hole properly, but just as often do not perform the same as the original drivers.

If you are specifically referring to the 12 inch AR woofer, ABT is no longer selling them, and Simply Speakers has been "out of stock" for a very long time. There are are no new replacements available.

You are much better off with refurbished original drivers whenever possible.

Couldn't agree more. You can get the original woofers re-foamed and re-coned for half of what they are asking for new stock.
