What were the results? What speakers?
You just asked if anyone did but didn't want to know what people heard (from speakers with this change made.) That was funny to me and it seems ole 'z-' accommodated your request to just answering your question.

.....if anyone did but didn't want to know what people heard...
Knock it off, people, the OP just wanted some hands-on assistance and only received some smirky attitude. Why would post #2 take the time to respond without offering some helpful information? 23,000 posts between the two of you, and this is the best you have to offer?

Yup it is all we can do. Sorry it is not to your liking. It just struck me as funny the way it came out. I'll leave now.

Ya I wish I could say I was surprised. Of course f1 nut liked his comment within minutes ahhaha. You know, opinions are like a$$holes. Blah blah blah. Usually the people who pay way to much for caps and wires are the snooty type I don't really associate with anywhere but on this forum anyway. But no biggie. I'm also not surprised some were not intelligent enough to know there was more to that question. Why else would I be seeking someone with first hand experience with this? I guess that's the real tough question ahaha

The reality is his one word answer was the correct response to your vague question.

Anyway, Solen caps are on the harsh side. That is they have an unpleasant edge to them. Sonicap Gen I caps present a smoother, more natural sound.

In most cases when it comes to capacitors the more they cost, the better they sound. One exception is Obbligato, which sound like they should cost way more than they do.

I appreciate your response. I recapped my polks sda srs a while ago and you definetly gave me some advice along the way (wich I also appreciate, like allways) and I went with all solen pb, wich you said I won't like them in the hf frequency at all, I've just finished setting up my new room and they sound great. But of course I didn't replace the sl2000 tweeters yet, and yes I can hear it. So before bothering with the hf caps should I replace the tweeters? I'm just thinking I won't know how I like my current caps without listening to them with the rdo's.

Yes

Seriously now........yes, replacing the tweeters would be your best move at this point.

I've been wanting to get them for a while but I've read a whole lot on them vibrating and issues with em. Put washers or somthing behind so they don't resonate and buzz, don't overtighten or they will break, and some just showing up to the door bad. I've been hesitant to replace 8 30yo tweeters that work just to have problems with the new ones over the next couple years. Do you think they might have all the issues they seem to have figured out by now?

The plastic bezel (faceplate) is slightly different than the original. On the backside at the 4 corner holes the area isn’t as built up, so gluing a #10 washer at each corner seems to be a good idea to help prevent the area from cracking. It has nothing to do with resonating or buzzing. Honestly, I believe the cracking issue is overblown. It's just that some people don't know when to stop turning the screwdriver. If you were to have any issue with a tweeter Polk stands behind them and will replace it.

Ok so it sounds like user error for the most part. Sounds like Il be ordering me a Xmas gift. Thank you for the help. Much appreciated.

That's typically been my experience as well. You get what you pay for.

Plus, thanks for the Obbligato tip. I've read good reviews of them, but it's still nice to get a personal recommendation.

I have switched between the caps that the OP is asking about and I could have explained to him the differences that I heard. He made it clear that he did not want to know about that though...

Not looking for what people have read or heard.

It is clear that he does not want to know what I heard when I made the change.

All he wants to know is wether or not someone has made the change.

I answered that question clearly.

If he wanted to know what I heard through my speakers after I made the swap, he should not have said "Not looking for what people have read or heard".

I 'think' you are misinterpreting the OP's original meaning. From how I read it, he's only interested in first hand accounts. People that have used and heard the caps in question. The OP doesn't want someone that is only regurgitating what they've read elsewhere, or reporting what they're heard speak of through others. So, If you do have experience with the Solen to SoniCap upgrade, I'd love to hear about your results! :)

This is exactly right - - thanks, stimpy, for filling in the blanks.

OK, then let's stop arguing about semantics, and please tell us about your own experience relative to the OP's situation.

Speakers - JBL L77
Receiver - Pioneer SX1250
Source - TEAC CD player

With the above gear, there was no difference that I could tell. I also used Dayton and Parts Express electrolytic.
