Solen on vs sonicap

I've been wanting to get them for a while but I've read a whole lot on them vibrating and issues with em. Put washers or somthing behind so they don't resonate and buzz, don't overtighten or they will break, and some just showing up to the door bad. I've been hesitant to replace 8 30yo tweeters that work just to have problems with the new ones over the next couple years. Do you think they might have all the issues they seem to have figured out by now?
I believe the issues that you have mentioned are probably a little over blown at this point and possibly caused by bad installations.

I will say that I would not worry about having tweeters show up dead on arrival. It's been mine and many others experience that Polk has great customer service. When i ordered the replacements for my 1.2tls, two of the tweeters showed up with the terminals on the back side just dangling there. This was most likely due to shipping. I called Polk and they sent me out two replacements right away and wouldn't even take the others back. So i now have two spares that are fixable for free thanks to their customer service.

I have read about how awsome there customer service is. It's not to hard to believe it's installation related, I just really wanted some feedback on these before spending $400 on them. Thank you, much appreciated.

Why not try some new tweeter capacitors first? Much cheaper, and it's something you're probably going to do as well? Then, maybe the SL2000's will be more to your liking, and won't require near-future replacement? Sonic Caps are well liked over at the Polk Forum. ClarityCaps too. While I've never heard or used Sonic Caps, I have used ClarityCap ESA's and CSA's. I used them for the series caps on the dome mids and tweeters, in my AR58S speakers. Very mellow, warm, and smooth. Very quiet, with no distortion, creating a deep soundstage. They could be exactly what you are looking for? Though, they do require a lengthy burn in to settle in and sound their best.

Good luck.

I don't think any capacitor or series of capacitors can fix the sl2000's real issue. I think by the time you actually tame the tweeter to where it is usable I think you will likely cut most of the sound out, even a bunch of it you enjoy.. after trying and still realizing they don't work right, then I would need to purchase the new tweeters and replace caps again to sound right with the new tweeters. Il just get the new ones.

Exact-a-mundo. You can sell those SL2000 abominations on e-Bay or elsewhere for the going price ($25 each) to recoup half of the expense of the RDOs. Unbelievable as it is there are indeed people that want them.

The first time rebuilt the crossovers on my 10B’s I used a pair Sonicap Gen I’s and an Axon True Cap. Great sound!!! I acquired a second set of crossovers and rebuild them using Mundorf MCap EVO’s cheaper than the Sonicaps and I liked the sound even better.

Oh yes I dumped the SL2000’s, replaced them with the new RDO-194 huge improvement.
