Solen Caps

Well that figures. I just ordered Solens for my Advent Heritage recap. Recently did a pair of Utah WD-90’s using Dayton Audio. Those speakers aren’t good enough for me to tell if they improved or not. Plus they are used in an unfinished basement. Guess I’ll try Audyn next time.
Also recapped a second pair of Advents. Does anyone recognize this brand of cap?

Audyn's are pretty decent caps. I've used them in various speakers.
Solen caps aren't horrible, and don't cost too much. There is an even cheaper Chinese brand called "Audiophile" they test very close to Solens.
You can't miss them, there very red. The picture below shows them in moddified crossovers I did in a pair of Realistic Nova 7B's.

Possibly the MPT. Seems like it was a 3-letter brand, but I didn't note it anywhere. Yes, I'm new at this
:)
Went back and found the order page. They are indeed MPT brand. Purchased on Ebay, which I understand isn't probably the best source. I've made a recent purchase at Parts express. Gonna' recap another pair of Advent Heritage's that I have started to refoam, and then my little Polk Audio Monitor Series 2's. I'm enjoying working on the speakers so far. I do appreciate everyone's help as I get started.

MPT is sometimes a construction type indicating polypropylene which is one of the better sounding plastics in film caps. Some companies use it in their cap model numbers. It is a materials designation for the Taiwanese Supercaps on eBay. You choose well

would agree. MPT usually means metalized foil, not film and foil construction.

Hey FWIW I took another look at my ebay order and saw that the caps were "Supertech" brand. Thanks for all the feedback everyone.

MPT can be polypropylene and usually is (such as Dayton), but it can also be polyester. MKP will always be polypropylene. MPT<MKP.

Like several others in this thread, I've used Solen caps for tweeters on some speakers (like the Jensen Model 4's I used to own) that had slightly rolled-off highs. I would use Dayton caps everywhere else. Solens seem like a nice upgrade from the Daytons, and in my experience bring a little needed sparkle to speakers with "east coast" sound.
