What a bunch of cheap pikers. It's worth at least $25. 
In a slightly more serious tone, and although it's generally considered very poor form around here to make your first post a question like this, they've mostly been bringing in around $300 on eBay lately, + or - $50. Although one mint example with the original box, packing materials, and paperwork did go for almost $450 a while ago. Of course if you're thinking about selling it anyplace but eBay you shouldn't expect to get quite as much for it.

So it is "BAD FORM" to post a question about the dollar value of something on a subforum where the description itself invites one to do so? It reads "What's my gear worth? Check out this deal! Is this a good buy? All these questions and anything relating sound to a price have a home in this forum"
I am not familiar with any Internet forum etiquette rules about having to post many times and then ask a value related question. I was not storming the forum and putting it for sale here, just thought some of you pro audiophiles could answer a simple question about a piece of gear.

But we are a very popular vintage audio site and we have over the years seen so many, many first time posters asking advice for pricing something they want to sell or requesting a free service manual or other advice, without the courtesy of introducing themselves, telling us their interest in audio and otherwise make themselves open to becoming a frequent member rather then just a one shot with a need. These one shot members have caused some of our members to have lower tolerance for this then others.
So if you are willing to overlook the awkward introduction you have received and willing to share a little more about yourself and interest I'm sure many members here would be willing to meet you half way. I see some have already tried to give you price estimates as you requested.

thanks you Lefty and Bolly for the perspective, I guess I have a better idea about the personality of this forum now. While I have not spent any time in this one, I do participate in about three other quality forums that are all unique in their personality, and all have a different take on what is considered "bad etiquette". I know better now, thank you.

Don't worry about it, your post was in the correct forum and there isn't any printed rule that says you can't do what you did. It's just as Lefty pointed out that some of the group here feels that we are taken advantage of quite a bit by people that come on looking for help and then never say thanks or come back again to participate.
As for myself, I'm always glad to hear from other VFET owners, especially another 5550 owner since they are fairly rare even among the VFET amp's. If you don't mind my asking, why are you looking to get rid of yours?

jt, don't get the wrong idea, you're still welcome here, it's just sort of frowned upon if say, this is the one and only post you'll ever make because then you're just using the site for your own purpose and we'll never hear from you again.
If you intend to hang around, and "converse" on the site in other forums then howdy!
It's like having an outdoor cat, and you feed it by leaving food out for it, and there are these racoons that show up, they eat the food, but they don't say much other than to bark at you(some frothing at the mouth), and then they leave, and never with a thank you for the grub. They show up for one thing, and one thing only. This is frowned upon here. Though you do make a valid point, and as a new user you should be praised for posting in the appropriate forum as there are often threads of this ilk moved here from other incorrect forums by users who have many more posts than you.
That's the only reason the pitch forks and torches are out, and they're really just plastic flimsy safety pitch forks and the torches are plastic battery powered lights...though as often occurs there are some who insist on having the real thing...authenticity and all...
