Sound Dynamics Owners...Unite!!

I cannot find any information from the brochures or from Sound & Vision Audio Preview magazines I have that there was ever a 8s model. There were 6, 10, 12, 15. The model numbers were directly related to the size of woofer. What model number do yours have printed on them?

I don't think there was an 8S model, either, just 6, 10, & 15.
 
For the S series there was the 6S, 10S, 12S, 120S and 15S. The last two floorstanders with built in stands that angled the speakers back at the listener. These also concealed a downward firing port.

The following CM (Concert Monitor) series didn't have an 8" model either.

It is a sad day in Who-ville, as I have listed both my SD 15S and Sony SS-U70 floorstanders. Due to a bad back that keeps getting worse, and an upcoming move into an apartment. Man, I'm gonna miss em'

I feel your pain Allen, I sold my 15s set a few months ago. I had that set for about 30 years. But I did get a good price and they went to a good young guy who will enjoy and take care of em. I've moved on and dont miss em that much. And acquiring a few of the silver dome/horn tweeters eased the pain.
 
Hey PW, I actually don't even own a pair of SD's. The picture above is from oivey. I was curious as to the factory cap value for the tweeter when it's mated to an 8" woofer. I do own two pairs of the tweeters however.
 
the sound dynamics that hit hard here in the U.S. was the 300Ti which was revered by hp at tas. i was slow on the draw and they went out of production so i never scored a pair. a friend did and he REALLY liked them but had IMF monitor IIIs improved for primary listening so the 300s didnt get much face time.
 
Got your reminder pm just in time, Array! Pulled them out, pulled a woofer. Was nice to see 'm again. :) Couple pics of my little 6s thrown in. One day they'll get a real veneer treatment, and be gorgeous...one day. :D

So it's a 3.3. I believe many of those caps werent marked so that's good to know.
That makes for a low crossover point as I thought. I believe I read somewhere that it's around 1500 hz which really puts a load on those tweeters and says alot about their design of which I always thought of as fantastic tweeters. Glad I have a few around!

I agree 100%. Just goes to show ya that speaker design improvements haven't come that far since 1978/79!

You know it's funny, but when I knew I had the 15S coming I sold my 6S pair. Now that I have to go back to a bookshelf model it would be nice to have them back! D'oh! :tears:

I have some SD's I got in a package deal concert monitor 500 I think. I wasn't really after the speakers and have only listened to them a bit.

They have like a 10" woofer I think but I couldn't seem to get much bass out of them.

Got mine form the original owner and they are cosmetically mint, with original paper work ( manuals, warranty card ) . Maybe this winter I'll spend some more time with them..

Does this mean I'm in a club or something? I'm not getting a tattoo or anything.

I was given a se of the 10s by my grandfather for my 16th birthday fifteen years ago. He was the original owner and took great care of them. Unfortunately the surrounds we're shot on the woofers so I went to a local speaker shop and matched them up with a set of Cambridge drivers that had similar characteristics but were a much higher wattage. Love those hinge and still rock them out to date. Just picked up a set of the 15s speakers, curiously enough though, they are taller, narrower and deeper then the pamflet says they should be. I have read on here people speaking of the concert monitors. These are definitely 15s with a phenolic dome alluminum spun tweeter that IS filled with the mettic fluid. The model number is on the back next to the jacks. These speakers sound great but seem to be a cheaper build than the 10s I own. Anyone actually know the deal here? Thanks!
