Starbuck's single serving coffee maker

The main reason I can't justify one of those machines is the fact that it costs a buck for a cup of coffee. I am the proverbial cheapskate though, and I generally drink a couple cups in the AM.

same here. I like being able tailor my cup of coffee exactly the way i want. french press is best way IMO to do that.

Me too! These pods of coffee are downright expensive. I can buy whole beans and get way more coffee out of my French press. I'm a cheapskate too!

French presser here too, & I usually hand-crank burr-grind my beans. :D You want frothy milk? Shake the heck outta your coffee creamer jug, before you pour it. :D

It's even worse than that. That's a buck for an 8 ounce cup. You need two pods for a 16 ounce grande. It's more expensive than buying the brewed coffee at Sbux.

These machines have their place. I like being able to brew a cup of coffee (I use bold pods and brew 16oz travel mugs) while putting on my shoes in the morning. Takes under 2 minutes and I'm off. No drive through line ups. No dealing with obnoxious employees who refuse to give you an "extra large" insisting you use their silly names for cup sizes.

Starbucks offered a Latte and Cappuccino when they were with Tassimo but after the switch to Keurig, this wasn't an option.

Yes, French Press makes a delicious coffee, at a lower price, but you can't beat the convenience.

I have tried to justify buying a keurig or whatever several times and the math just doesn't add up. My Cuisinart grind and brew has a half pot of coffee waiting for me the second my feet hit the floor.

I know it works for some people and I have no problem with that, but it's just not for me.

Not to mention that you give up that amazing, wonderful assortment of astonishing coffees out there. Not enough time left in my lifetime to try them all.

It does nothing that my espresso machine can't do. My machine doesn't restrict me to 3rd rate, over-roasted, pre-ground, stale beans in overpriced pods from Starbucks, either.

The specs claim 19 bars of pressure, which is WAY too much. 9-11 bars is the standard for espresso.

What espresso machine do you have, if you don't mind me asking?

Nor pre-ground, stale beans in overpriced pods direct from Keurig either. And, fwiw, I'm not convinced those pods don't contain, at least in part, instant coffee. Instant coffee can claim to be "100% coffee", but it's still garbage.

I like my Keurig, but I don't waste my money on the pods...I got the filter cartridge so I grind my own.

Had I not bought this 4 months back, I would probably buy the one from Starbucks.
