The Good Morning (Your First Logon for the Day) Thread

Good Morning Folks. It is 65f on the deck, overcast with rain predicted and a high of 75f. The National Weather Service is saying T-storms and heavy rain possible before 2pm. Yesterday I purchased security system for the house. The install happens this morning. While the install takes place I'll get a few chores done in the house.

Good morning, y'all! We have 98 and sunshine here today. We are headed up the hill at lunchtime to our favorite winery. We're taking my friend Karl, who has never been there before. He's not much of a wine guy, but he will enjoy the grounds and scenery. As members of their wine club, we're picking up 3 bottles - our choice of anything they make. So naturally we'll have to do some tastings. My favorites are a really tasty red blend, a delish sparkling rose' and a very nice barbera. We'll get barbeque for lunch on the way home. Looks like fun. Good morning! Clear and upper 80s F for the walk, going to 101. Chances of rain go up to 25% in the afternoon.

Yesterday I took a not very good stab at the camera club subject of the month "Composite Image" using a couple of years-old pics. Then I asked the club president about the rules and he determined that the source pictures had to be taken in the period since the topic was announced, so it's back to head scratching for an idea.

Today: some floor mopping, that's about it.

Yesterday the labor day graphic fell together quickly, now have time to do an alternate and/or work on the September small camera club Subject of the month "Composite - two or more images combined in one." This breaks the rule that such images ordinarily go in the Creative category.

I bought a four CD set of Dizzy Gillespie (eight Philips LPs from 1961-1964). Never owned any of his stuff, and finding that it's somewhat different (has greater range and is more enjoyable) than the impression I had in the back of my mind. Maybe his style was different in other years (?) and maybe I had him confused with some other bebop artists. There are some calypso tracks and some with vocalese by Les Double Six of Paris. Anyway, I'm working from disc #4 to disc #2 for dinner music, and playing disc #1 in the car.

Today: some laundry, and photo stuff mentioned above.

alway great joy when you find music you don't and it turns out you love it! I lucky enough to have a thrift store locally that sells records for a quarter so I buy whatever looks remotely interesting. Last great surprise show a smiling older gentleman with a violin with the title of the record "Pablo". a wonderful jazz record from 1980 im perfect condition. Happy for you on you"dizzy" find. I was never a big fan of his but if I see it cheap, I'll some. john
 
The air quality here isn't right, my cats stay inside so something wrong , but at least it's been cooler in the wilds of Wyoming. Some hot days still to come . We had rain twice within a week and even a few more drops yesterday that got the porch wet. I happy for the beautiful animals that live here that more food and water should be available to them. Well ,you have to take the bad with the good.Went to the cancer Dr. and as expected, my psa came back undetectable. Next visit in 3 months, if it's undetectable then I probably won't have to stay on the med continuously. They make me sweat like crazy! Anyhow , went to the grocery store after and bought myself a small bag of soft candy, It's a little chewy but this was a lot chewy and snapped of my right front tooth! Well , it's still connected some how and hit the area with clove bud oil to kind any pain and infection. I don't have a dentist and have been to one since the soap opera dentist I went to who would quote me a price, the charge $100-$150 more. When he put an ill fitting crown on a tooth I was done. Then the treatment of ulcerative colitis made most of the teeth in my lower jaw break,well what do you do? I was going to get my teeth fixed when my Ex-wife from her exodus to California. When didn't and followed through with the divorce it cost me most of my retirement to buy the mortgage to stay in my house.

Life is full of challenges and this is a tough one. I have to avoid a reverse mortgage , I love my hose and was hoping to leave it with someone I love when my time comes. I talked to one of those companies and they rip off so bad on the process fees you end up with nothing for all the hard work you put in to make payments for all those years.

Sorry to be a drag, I will have great day despite my most recent disaster and focus on the positive and look for help today. Have a wonderful day and never forget it's how we handle our challenges in life is what it's all about! luv, john
 
Good morning. It’s 62°F going to 97, another warm one. This morning is open so I’ll likely do some hobby stuff. My usual Thursday pool shooting is off since our host is out of town so myself and another guy are meeting for a beer instead. I have meeting at the art museum at 4pm so the beer time will be short.

The roofer finished on the other house yesterday and we’ll do the look over with their main guy tomorrow. We are going to get a reduction in the cost since some of the sheathing was good and didn’t have to be replaced. The place is back on the market and we’ve had a few people looking but no offers yet.
 
Good morning all! Excellent dinner last night. We were joined by the husband and a long-time friend of our sister-in-law. In fact the friend was the one who introduced our SIL to Momma's brother.

Momma is doing the monthly lunch with the neighborhood ladies, and I'm hosting pinochle tonight. They're calling for some strong storms this afternoon, we'll see. They tend to over-predict at times.

TMI: I called it, well sort of, block injection Tuesday and surgical consult with the complex spine surgeon. As compared to last year's x-rays the previous fusion is no longer stable, so it’s likely a revision and extension. Dr P suspects a broken rod.
 
Good morning, y'all! We have 92 and mostly sunny here today. I'm headed off to breakfast with the vets in a little while, not much else going on. We had a great time at the vinyard yesterday, came home with 3 bottles of wine, including a new one, a Grenache Blanc. Very yummy. It should be a mellow afternoon around here. I have to go snake out a slow drain in the garage utility sink at the rental property tomorrow morning. Have an awesome day, everyone!
 
Good morning! Sunny with some high clouds and mid-upper 80s F for the walk, going to 103. Another day with sun in the morning and chances of scattered storms in the afternoon/evening. We had a thundershower early evening yesterday and there were storms with flood warnings all around.

This morning there's a power sweeper out trying to do something with the sand that has run off the utility road into the street. It has a cylindrical brush and water drip but no vacuum to pick up anything.

Today: do the mopping I skipped yesterday; order groceries for pickup tomorrow.

Good Morning Folks. It is 70f on the deck and today's high will reach the mid 80f. Weed mowing today in the front and rear yards. That will happen before it get to warm. Yesterday afternoon I was able to get a stereo system working. The system is simple: a modern Pioneer AV Receiver, KLH Model 5 reissues. The front end is a Mac Mini. This afternoon I will get the MM loaded with music which will take hours. When in the mid west my music is with an iPhone and Headphones.

Good morning all! Pinochle went well last night, for us anyway. Jim and I were paired up against my brother-in-law and Ed. About 3 hands in I was able to shoot the moon for 100 points. Needless to say we took the first half by a large margin.

The second half was more balanced. With one hand left they were ahead by one point. I decided to gamble and bid on the fact that Jim might have the last jack of diamonds to make a double pinochle for me. Didn't happen, and we went down on that hand. So we won first half and total and they won second half.

My BIL, however, bolted for the door without saying goodbye. Hmm, not sure about that, it's only a game.

Today is low key, hanging out in the loft, watching for rain. Pretty good storm went through last night, in fact they had a tornado warning issued for the Dover area, although I don't think there was much damage.

Good morning all, 63°F/17°C, overcast and humid from rain last night, air is still.

Today's my birthday, 73...definately 'geezed out..."Get off my lawn!" No real plans, eldest daughter/SIL coming with a cheesecake either this afternoon or evening, youngest daughter coming to collect some stuff she left here when she moved to the city last year, probably stay overnight..."decontaminated" her old room for and set up a/c yesterday, Tux is insulted, that's his room now, LOL

And speaking of Tux, seems to have completely recovered from his dental work several weeks ago. Been adding dry food at night feeding and its always gone, so appears he's wolfing it down...hmmm, engaging in "cat crazies" right now :rolleyes:

Trying to learn "Don't Think Twice" in fingerstyle-guitar, knew it fine years ago, what happened to that muscle-memory? Oh, I know :confused: Also "8 More Miles To Louisville," the riff is easy enough, but cannot get it consistant...yeah, woodshed, woodshed..

OK, everyone keep safe, especially you brothers proximate to the forest fires!

 
Good Morning Folks. It is 59f on the deck and the predicted high will be in the mid 80s. This morning the Wife and I going Sioux Fall to watch the Grand Kids for a few hours. When released we'll do a little shopping before heading home. Yesterday the weeds were lowered in the front and rear yards. The heat and humidity had me moving slow and drinking lots of water. In the late afternoon we received a pounding rain with thunder and lighting. I opened the garage door, got a lawn chair and enjoyed the show.

Good morning, y'all! We have 93 and cloudy here today. I don't have much going on, just the usual Friday minor chores and errands. Had to call the plumber to unclog the utility sink at the rental unit. He should be over there sometime this morning. Me too! I barely remember the chords and cannot finger-pick it any more. Cool song!
