The Good Morning (Your First Logon for the Day) Thread

Good morning everyone...well not good, raining and supposed to get heavier here in the Northeast, especially in the south and Cape, be careful @BillyTheKid and @SuperjazzyJa. Right now its 63°F/17°C, raining at a good clip, no wind.

Forgot to mention got my Covid booster on Friday morning (where is that thread?), sore arm by evening, yesterday if pressed I might say I was overall achy in a minor way, but being old hard to tell from normal :p No so today though arm a little sore. I got the latest Moderna..."SpikeVax," what a name! At least it didn't have "teeth" going in.

Just as I write this its raining harder, gonna be a day to hunker down. Keep safe and dry all!

Good morning, y'all! We have 81 and sunshine here today. I'm fired up for the first football Sunday of the year. We went out to dinner last night to a really nice steakhouse for my birthday. I had a superb filet mignon washed down with the Textbook cabernet we took with us. Delicious! I'm just going to hang in front of the TV all day and eat junk and slug beer. Fly Eagles, Fly! Have an awesome day, everyone!

Good morning! Clear and upper 70s F for the walk, going to 96. Yesterday afternoon it turned dark and there was rain all around, but it missed the airport and here. Same possible this afternoon. Nothing particular on the schedule. Moving some junk around in the garage to put the old tire compressor on backup and put the new battery powered one in a convenient spot. Supper: baked ribeye; it's been sitting in the freezer for months but still should be good.

Have a great day!

Good Morning Folks. It's 55f on the porch and today's high may reach the mid 70's. The saga of the Electrical Tester continues. Yesterday Alice and I drove the 100 mile round trip into town and a Hardware Store. The store did not have a tester under $149.95! So we went to breakfast and grocery shopping. The grocery store saved the day. The store has seasonal October Feast beer, a personal fav! The afternoon porch sitting was very enjoyable!

Easy day ahead with a focus on the mostly empty basement. My entire wood working shop and 99% of my hand tool are is South Dakota. Looking what's is left down there makes me smile and wonder why I kept most of it.
Sorry for the length Guys and have a great Sunday.
Allan

Not that much weather today. Rained in the morning and sun came out about 4.

Been very busy here. Fair season and house guests.
Lots of laundry and cooking.
Dirty dishes have a great tale to tell.

A big Wyoming welcome to my fellow AK'er's, with temperatures getting bearable I looking forward to getting a little maintenance accomplished. Since bailed out some who need money to pay rent, I probably won't get much done so painting the porch may be all I can do until spring time. I'd also like to get my 87 Volkswagen Cabriolet back on the road, I bought it last time gas prices got over $4/gal. Needs a new top, Which the price now has more than doubled, it might be worth doing. It's surprisingly fun to drive, handles well and reasonably comfortable. If my ex and Joe Bide hadn't so much money, but have to live in reality. Need to clear a space it the garage to work on it , and the 73 mgb needs to go. I would make a nice winter project for someone, engine needs rebuilt and had been stored uncovered. I expected to get back to working on it, in two weeks it was covered with dust, did I say it blows here, so it never got covered.

I'm 4 days late paying my $400 water bill so I'd better get on it this morning. We have a very low tax rate here and zero state tax so they got to get you where they can . I get it. I hope buy a vehicle soon and need to get with the program. From what I've been able to tell, used vehicle prices drop this time of year so I need sell stuff, mainly my very rare beatles column's record, only 18 known to exist and pay cash for an older higher end vehicle and avoid the high insurance You have to pay when burrowing to buy, life's always been full of challenges and we have to find a way to survive. hope you all find a way to deal with the challenges in your life, I know it a stress relief iten we have to do to keep on living sort of the way we want to live. As always, my best to you and yours. john

Good morning, y'all! We have 88 and sunshine here today. Looks like it'll be really nice outside, so I'll get back on the chair stripping project. Ideally, I'd like to get a water-based stripper so all I have to do is hose it off after application. That could mean a road trip to Home Depot, as neither Ace nor Amazon have anything appropriate. Maybe I'll grab a 20-ft. Halloween skeleton while I'm there. :)! Have an awesome day, everyone!

Good morning! Woke up and went back to sleep a couple of times, finally got up late. Sunny with high thin clouds and upper 80s F for the walk, going to 82, high chances of rain in the afternoon. Yesterday's rain stayed to the south. Today: washing sheets, maybe play some more with this month's camera club entries.

Have a great day!

Good Morning Folks. It is 40f on the porch with a high in the mid 70's. Today Alice and I are driving into town. Over the weekend heating oil was delivered and we pay by check. The oil co. charges 5% when a credit card is used for payment and the bill is $669.07! Yesterday I managed to get the battery tender hardwired. I used a small lamp and wire to located a power source, looked cheesy but got the job down.
Have a great Monday and take care.
Allan

G’afternoon friends,
Spent an hour or so with the 16.5’rs at the beach. Stopped by the optometrist and the second new right lens was still too big, so she sent me to the lab, which is close, so mission accomplished, glasses fixed in 5 minutes. Today is all about getting ready for our road trip to Santa Cruz tomorrow. The steam train tour of the redwoods is a personal “2fer”; It is at once a bucket list item and as a third generation native of the California Central Coast relief of deep seeded embarrassment for not having been. No plans for the return trip accept take a day or three meandering home on CA1. This is a roots trip as it retraces my family’s southward migration from Santa Barbara, Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica, N. Long Beach, and E. Long Beach through HS. GTE Telco brat. Palisades High played their first home game since the fire. They showed highlights at halftime on SNF. Our house was in a tiny pocket of surfing homes. Pali High did not. Still on the fence about seeing where the village and my 3rd and 4th grade church, school, and hobby shop used to be. Happy Trails Amigos,
John

Good morning dear friends!

58° F and mostly sunny, high 67.

Didn't make it here yesterday. Sunday's sudden weather switch caused me to have a coughing fit which resulted in a pulled muscle in the lower right back by the pelvis. It's feeling better today, still a little sore.

Going to Marlboro today with friends. Not sure why exactly. Story for tomorrow.

God bless you all!

Good morning all! Sunny and mid-60's at the moment, looks like a pleasant day out there. Yesterday we trimmed some high sprouts off the holly bushes. Man, those things grow like weeds.

At the moment I have the first load of laundry in. I should be able to squeeze in a second load before lunch.

Take care and have a great day!

Good morning, 62 F and trying to rain.
Going over last minute details for our Bosnia & Herzegovina trip which begins tomorrow.
Prices in Sarajevo appear to be OK but not as inexpensive as rural Calabria.
I'm cleaning the bathrooms today and some minor outdoor stuff.
We're going out for an Italian supper tonight; tradition before a trip.
Have a great day.

Good morning, y'all! It'll be 88 and sunny here today. Not much on the plate today. My buddy Karl gave me a 13 Pro iphone, an upgrade over my 11, so I spent yesterday trying to get it set up. I'll have to take it to a phone store today to switch SIM cards. I have a few minor household chores and exercises to do, the weather is beautiful so I think I'll go walking today, even if it's just a short one. I'll take Tylenol beforehand to preempt the inevitable knee pain. Hope everyone has an awesome day!

Good morning! Partly cloudy and low-mid 70s F for the walk - very nice! Going to 88 with some chances of rain late afternoon.
Storms last night didn't hit right here, but there were three swift-water rescues in Tucson.

Today: some laundry; leftover steak, potatoes and corn for supper.

Have a great day!
