The worst song ever recorded?

I dunno. There are so many bad ones. My top 10 dogs, as of today:

1. FEELINGS by Morris Albert, which may also be one of the worst songs ever written.
2. CRAZY HORSES by The Osmonds in which the anti-rock band attempts rock and roll.
3. AMERICAN PIE cover by Madonna, who took a bad song and didn't make it better.
4. CLARE by Gilbert O'Sullivan. Do I have to explain this one?
5. DON'T CRY DADDY by Wayne Newton: treacle so rotten even the flies don't want it.
6. MY WAY tied with HAVING MY BABY, which are the two worst songs to ever make the top 5! Both were written by Paul Anka. Both songs will suck the air out of a room.
7. ALONE AGAIN, NATURALLY by Gilbert O'Sullivan: Dude needs some Prozac!
8. MacARTHUR PARK by Richard Harris, and anyone else who sings it. Harris was a great actor but as a singer, well, he was a great actor. Once upon on a time people thought Jimmy Webb a great songwriter. He did write a few gems but this one spoiled his entire songbook.
9. WHO LET THE DOGS OUT? by ?. Dreadful and possibly the world's most annoying tune this side of FEELINGS
10. Any song, with one exception, from the motion picture SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND. What were Peter Frampton and the Bee Gees thinking? Only Aerosmith, a group I do not like much, does a credible cover of a Beatles song.

I didn't add by Mariah Carey, whose singing makes me cringe. She has good pipes but her mannerisms are so annoying. I'll leave that for others.

Nor anything by William Hung, whose singing is totally incompetent and tone deaf but very funny - in tiny doses.

For those of a certain age there is the unforgettable DOWNTOWN by Mrs. Miller.

Mrs Miller was a VERY nice little old lady who had a surprise hit in '66 w/"Downtown". Everything I've read about her seems to underscore that point, even tho her "Career" was basically a big joke. As long as she & everybody else associated w/it TREATED it as such, she did FINE. Once the jig was up was when it all came crashing down...

I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston. Compared to the beautiful singing by Dolly Parton and Linda Ronstadt, why is she yelling the song?

Anything by Michael Bolton, enough said.

Michael Bolton WAS an OK name until that no talent assclown started winning grammys.

I remember her vividly. Her act was pretty funny and she was, from all telling, a good sport. Still, hearing her recording is painful, it's only when watching her that I found her bearable.

That "Charlene" hit from '83-"Never Been to Me"... Strange song, came outta NOWHERE, TOTALLY monopolized the airwaves for about a 6 week period, then DISAPPEARED, like it had never even BEEN there. And, as far as I know, she/he/it NEVER came even REMOTELY close to "Scoring" again..

Can't begin to explain how or why but this just invaded by consciousness.
Wink Martindale (that's right) and his "Deck of Cards" from the late 50s. It's on YouTube....see if you can see it out with a straight face.

Ha-ha! Wow! No, I'm saying SHA is bad because it goes to lengths to defend a specific sub-culture whose values haven't been accepted by the rest of the world since 1863 and makes Lynyrd Skynyrd sound like a bunch of Klansmen even if they really were nice guys.

And ... you listen to rap music? Really? That makes your opinion valid? Right, and so do some of my best friends. Jesus. Sorry if you didn't intend to address racism, because you kind of just did.

Here's one up your alley:

Saga - On The Loose

Y'all just went over this in the 'Sappiest Songs" thread.

"Honey," Bobby Goldsboro
"Seasons in the Sun" by whoever
"Sometimes When We Touch," Dan Hill

What could be worse? Songs like this make me want to listen to death metal, and I hate death metal.
