The worst song ever recorded?

"Harper Valley P.T.A." -- my opinion of it since the first day I heard it. Even Larry Lujak on WLS-AM Chicago read my letter on the air complaining about his station playing it.

After further review, Steely Dan - Reelin in the Years ranks at the top of my list. Second would be Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall.

I know this is subjective...but there have been some horrendous songs on otherwise good albums from the rock and roll era. I was prompted to create this thread after hearing the great side 2 of Double Fantasy first, and then hearing "Kiss, Kiss, Kiss" and "Give me Something" on side 1. Oh my God, I heard Yoko was terrible but I haven't really listened to it before.

Another song that comes to mind is "Bugs" by Pearl Jam on Vitology.

I know a lot of this crap is "experimental" by established artists who can do anything they want, but for the love of God....:thumbsdn:

An excellent question, but there is truly only one answer. "We Built This City."

Nothing forces me to turn off the stereo faster than those two songs.

Agree about the Pink Floyd -- that song's always irritated me (mostly the kiddie chorus) -- but Steely Dan? Is it maybe just that it's a good song that's been overplayed, or did you feel that way the first time you heard it?

I'm not big on Steely Dan to start with and that song has always been unbearable to me. Most of their songs just bore me rather than irritate me.

Can the content of Rod Mckuen's so-called "musicical' compositions be considered? If yes, then THE McKUEN CATALOGUE. All of it.
