Awesome Chicks. I enjoyed that. Thank you. I have a soft spot for French Jazz. There used to be an incredible French Canadian station on XM Radio years ago called "Sur le Route" (on the road). They played music exactly like this. I miss that station. They took it off of their lineup when they merged with Sirius Radio.

During this show she mentioned one singer who turning away from jazz to pop to make a career.

IMO, if a few CD or vinyl sales to live performers supports thier career, it's a good thing for jazz.

Thanks, Todd. I did not listen to that "Night Train" show, because I think I was on Maui with SWMBO and unable to listen. HOWEVER, I probably recorded it. When I get some time, I'll go through my archives of the show and see if I can find out for us. BTW, I love when Grossman does this "Stump the Artist" thing on his show. He's done that for quite a while off and on.

I just love a good live performance, probably because I get to see one so rarely. Once in a while a track of a live show comes up on the stereo random play and it makes you stop, throw down whatever it was you were doing crank it a bit and sit and listen. Not many performers can have that effect, but once in a while...

Dunno if this qualifies as contemporary jazz, and the singer is from Brooklyn, not France, but she’s damn cute and sings lots of French songs. More retro jazz, but I enjoy their music.
