TU-7900 and BA-2000

Is a TU-7900 and a BA-2000 good mates?...never used a straight power amp....I have a TU-9900 and an AU-20000. Just curious as to how to make best use of the BA-2000. Thanks guys and here is my AU-20000/TU-9900:

I imagine they'd sound great together, but you'll need a preamp to use with the power amp. The preamp gives you volume, tone controls, input selection, etc.

Pre-amp, but not an integrated amp? New to this stuff....

Well, you can use the preamp section of your integrated amp, as long as it has the jumpers to seperate the preamp from the main ins. I imagine yours does, as it's a good unit, but I've never used one, so can't say for certain. In the long run, you'll probably want to find a nice preamp though, so you can use the 2 systems seperately. Of course, there are a LOT of options with seperates, like getting a y-adapter, to use the preamp section to control both amps. Just do plenty of reading, before hooking things up, as those are all nice units, and you don't want to hook anything up wrong.

The matching preamp for that BA-2000 is the CA-2000. They pop up all the time on ebay.

On another note, thats a might fine set of Sansui seperates you are accumulating there! :thmbsp:

Working hard at it because I love 'em...however I got a bit hog tied on this pre-amp/amp thing...I guess I'll be on the hunt for a CA-2000...lots of work just for a bedroom unit. The livingroom unit is the AU 20000, TU 9900, SC 2110, Technics 1500 R2R, Music Hall MMF 7 turntable, an AT 20 to help spare my power switches and Acoustic Research AR90's.

I guess the bedroom will be the BA 2000, TU 7900 (CA 2000 if I can net one reasonably), SC 2002 and SP 2500's.

I agree with you on everything in the bedroom except the speakers (BTW, that will be one INCREDIBLE bedroom setup, better than alot of peoples main systems). I can understand your wanting to keep it all Sansui, but honestly speakers wasn't their strong suit.

Oh I agree...they are just what I had in a tuner amp deal...so they are not the final speaks...just what I have now. They are a place holder...love to get a nice set of cornwalls....

That tuner is almost fantastic. It's that good.

The pre? definately fantastic. Amazing pre-amp.

Match a BA-2000 to it, or even another amp (I run a Denon POA 1500 off mine), you've got a killer setup.

I was VERY impressed with that 5900, Deli. Amazing considering it is two down from the TOTL of that series. Great action on the tuning knob.

Well, with AR90's and Cornwalls to choose from, I don't think there is a 'wrong' decision to be made here. One thing you might consider is that Cornwalls don't need the 120WPC that your BA-2000 is putting out. That and many would argue that they sound better on tubes than on solid state amps. If it were my bedroom setup....Hmmmm...Maybe some Yamaha NS-690's or if your feeling really frisky, get the 1000M's. Plus, I think it would look nice to keep it all black!

I agree with the all black idea....I still need to kick around the bedroom speaks for awhile...AR90's are definately going in the living room.
