VTA PH-16 Project.

Sometimes mistakes help you in life.
In this case i ordered the next size up by mistake, but now I have 3/8” space between the toroidal and the case.

I have been astounded by the number of times something like this has happened to me. The other scenario is when components are mounted and holes drilled on a preliminary basis, then you discover that a terminal strip or other device that's needed later will fit the spacing of the holes purely by accident. That has saved a number of my one-off projects over the years.

Nice job on that transformer cover! Did you cut down the height on a lathe?

Howdy!
Yes, start with a HSS tool and end using a metal saw due the flimsy material for the HSS, the chattering was insane. The final cut after the saw was using the HSS to acquire perpendicularity.
Next time, if, I will use a dremel mounted on the lathe and more rubber bands!!

Not much progress today.
The original heat sink use pins to soldering to the board, because the heat sink is going to be exposed I preferred to remove the pins and tap a 4-40 thread and attach it with screws.
The pins holes are perfect to just tap a 4-40 thread.

Another good surprise using the wrong transformer case is that the base holding holes match with the PS board holes, making easy to hold the board and the transformer using the same stud. Now this is not from and financial point of view but aesthetic, less crowded surface from hardware.

thats pretty cool. sometimes gravity works in your favor its a gift, hey?

I recently attached a heat sink with a regulator to a power supply board for a phono preqmp by soldering the pins. I didn't even think using screws. I will next time!
 
So far things are going good. Some missing componente but its ok I am not in rush and VTA has been very good regarding customer service.
Here some pictures. Be organize is the key.
The chassis will be ordered soon to start drilling.

Four Isolation mounting for the phono section are finished. Should be five but I run out of material. Anyway I will be away few weeks.

I been out of town so no much progress.
Boards are assembled and ready to be installed, The chassis arrived, so I printed the drawing to perform the right location and posterior drilling.
Like the compact looking.
