Something a bit more traditional.



I was reminded how back in the 80's, I decided this was my favorite of the "big three" Canadian beers.

Amiga IPA (used to be called La Virgen. Has the same logo. I wonder if the locals didn't like associating Mary with cervesa?) it's rather toasty outside today.

Your thoughts on this beer? Did they nail the taste of TJ’s peanut butter cups? I can’t bring myself to buy a beer with peanut butter in it, but have been mildly curious if they taste OK.

Me at moment, sitting on front porch, home coffee machine coffee WITH couple shots of Tennessee Honey. Takes edge off the horrible coffee ("Doncha know" as Roger Miller would say )

Your thoughts on this beer? Did they nail the taste of TJ’s peanut butter cups? I can’t bring myself to buy a beer with peanut butter in it, but have been mildly curious if they taste OK.

First impression wasn’t so bad that I won’t finish the 4 pack. Been curious is all.

2nd try - woke it up with a very tall pour into a room temp glass. Let it it settle to 1/2” head. Got the PB cup aroma off the foam before tasting. Much better effect, darker, near bitter, chocolate taste than I remember TJ’s PB cups to be. Perhaps additional research materials are required? In the meantime I like it as a dessert beverage, would pair nicely with some dark Belgian chocolate and the ABV is as labeled so one 16 oz punches like (2) regular 12’s.
It’d be great with a gas pellet.

Kirkland French Roast in my new coffee cup . . .

Was sipping this a few nights ago with friends (one of our Bourbon Trail travel companions was in town for a visit), and it was tasty, so I got another bottle to share at the SMAC meet today.

The color of the head looks rich! It does sound like a nice dessert beverage.

I had one last night with a few dark Dove chocolates. Very nice.
