Just got home from a hideous jazz gig, outdoors in oppressive heat, with a bass player who couldn't find a correct chord change or functional base line if his entire family was held ransom. The short answer to the thread title is....

Gin & Tonic
A friend hosts about 3-4 liquor tastings each year. A couple of months ago I attended the Irish Whiskey tasting. We sampled 8 different whiskies. I loved the bourbon tasting prior and was not familiar with Irish whisky. My favorite from the selections was The Irishman Caribbean Cask Finish. It's finished in rum barrels for 6 months hence the Caribbean in name.
Surprisingly, my wife likes it. We aren't neat whiskey drinkers necessarily and have been enjoying Irish whiskey Old Fashions. My recipe is a slight variation from the traditional. I make a simple syrup from dark brown sugar with a touch of vanilla extract added. My drinks are a little sweeter but not too much. I use the same recipe with bourbon.
Next tasting is rum...

Happy Saturday, AKers!
Went to Duck Foot Brewing in the Miramar area yesterday to see what new beers they might have.
Brought some deli sandwiches, got a flight, and joined in a FIFA watch party.
Came home with the Liquid Jam Hazy - enjoying that now on a sunny afternoon.
