Gin and Tonic anyone?

Yes, they do go down rather easily.
I drink a 52 ounce vodka/gin tonic every Friday night during my glow Frisbee golf round. It is the one time a week I drink (my GF is the designated driver) Everyone that has tasted mine has loved it. Got to have something to keep you warm when you're throwing a Frisbee in 12 degree weather.
No gin and tonics before Memorial Day or after Labor Day. It just ain't cricket.
I agree that high summer is the best time, but I do like a good G&T at Christmas time (guess it kind of tastes like the tree
). My fav's are Tanqueray and Plymouth along with local distillery Dry Fly's Gin.

Well here in australia it IS high summer so ive just been out and bought a nice bottle of Bombay Sapphire which i will crack open tonight.
Just out of curiosity, what would you guys in the USA typically pay for a 700ml bottle?

tanqueray is the standby, but for something special, I love hendricks gin.

Look, this afternoon at the liquor supermarket was a bit of an eye opener. I‘d never paid much attention to gin usually jst looking for the cheapest. But boy oh boy theres some very interesting (and expensive) stuff available.
At the moment its about 7pm here so i‘m hydrating myself with a couple of beers while listening to some Icehouse, but come 9pm i‘ll spin some Miles Davis and crack open the Bombay Sapphire...

Now that sounds like a good evening. I'll add that while I haven't had very many different Gins, my absolute favorite is Hendricks. When I make a G&T with that stuff I have to sip it because there's simply too many flavors going on to not sit and enjoy every nuance of every sip. Good luck finding your favorite!
Regular Bombay (white label), is the standard in my house. No need for the extra kick of Sapphire in a G&T, it precludes a second one, since I make mixed drinks of this sort in pint glasses. Schweppes is the preffered tonic with a wedge of lime. Seagrams & Polar Tonic are acceptable replacements. Since Gin drinkers are a prickly bunch I keep Beefeater's and Bombay Sapphire for those who prefer them. I used to have Tanqueray on hand, but my buddy who drank it had to give it up, just the Tanq, nothing else.

I was wondering when someone was going to bring up Hendricks. As much as I hate to say it, G&T has always been my 'hangover' drink. You know, what you drink when you have a bad hangover???:drool: Anyway, Tanqueray has always been at the top, followed by Bombay for me, until I walked into the liquor store and a friend of my wife had a sample stand set up (crazy, huh?) She was pushing Hendricks and tonic with a slice of cucumber. Wasn't thrilled about trying it, but I did and it's been my mainstay ever since. It's not just my 'hangover' drink now, I have a bottle of Hendricks for a nice evening relaxer too!
I usually prefer my gin in the form a dry martini. I just wave the unopened vermouth over the gin.
That said... Broker's really IS the world's best gin.

I'm surprised I am was the only one to bring it up till now. also, I'm a purist, and still like the lime instead of the cucumber. love that citrus bite

A gin and tonic is a great drink. I have had them with many different brands of gin. Experiment and try different ones to see which you like best.

Being an old schooler I have to agree that Beefeater is my favorite tasting but with it and Tanqueray both at 95 poof, I will now gravitate more to Bombay (not the Sapphire, which I find foul) because at 86 or so it's a lot easier on me.
Of course Hendricks is delicious and works well in a G&T but quite a bit more expensive.
