What's a cool looking receiver?

The look of an airplane console is probably what I'm looking for. Anyway, those pics are unreal. The ones on this page from BigTuna are just crazy.

I think if I had the money to just buy whatever I wanted it wouldn't be as special. The experience of just looking at all this cool stuff and NOT being able to just go purchase it immediately makes it more special. Maybe life shouldn't be just getting all you want. It robs you of something by just getting something with no sacrifice at all.

(I went to the clubs tonight. Do you realize how bad music has gotten? I mean some is cool but very, very little in the clubs I was at tonight. A lot of guys asking to dance with me, and I didn't have the ambition to tell them that i wasn't going to dance to that crap. This was a totally drunk post. Did not drive btw.)

Yeah I realized a while ago that clubs just make me really pissed off and want to go home and listen to real music. Fake girls, fake guys, fake (way to loud) music, overpriced shitty drinks... :thumbsdn: :sigh:

Don't even get me started on the current state of music in America. Shall I use another word? I don't know if "music" really adequately describes it...
 
G'day mate, sorry if this is taking this thread off topic a little, but yes it's a similar story with the (night) club scene here in Australia. Actually it's a pretty bad scene all up for many reasons, but sadly it's an indication of the mess wider contemporary society is in. :yes: and as you say very fake!

As an 'Aspie' myself I absolutely loathe 'fakeness' in all its forms! Years ago our local club's had a pretty good live band scene, but sadly those days are well and truly over. Regards, Felix aka catman.

Some beautiful equipment in this thread. I'm partial to the looks of my 1978 Sanyo JCX-2600K, which is a less common example from the 1970s silver era of receivers. Although the overall look is quite similar to Pioneer's SX-xx50 series, there are some nice differences in the details that set it apart (beveled knobs with black pointers, vertical black trim strips at the ends of the tuner dial). Just a nice, classic take on this style that many have not seen due to the low number of sales compared to the leading Japanese brands.

Guess I'm kind of partial to my Pioneer SX-1980s but I always loved the looks of the Sansui G-9000. They are simply gorgeous

Yes there are some great new groups. I agree. Last night was just such an abomination! I was disgusted. Fun time though!
