Words to live by

I am currently watching an in depth one on one interview between top level athletes and one of them said something that resonated:

"You never learn anything when you are comfortable".

I don't want to seem to be critical of being comfortable. It has its place in the mix and there are times where it is the medicine that is needed. The intent was more aimed at the times when one is aiming for a goal, I feel.

"It ain't over 'til the fat lady sings!"

The saying is more of a proverb alluding to hefty opera singers about "outcomes".

Only used it the once at a committee meeting...and wish hadn't! No details on it usage! :bigok:

Max Planck Nobel Prize 1918

"A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it."

I would say the corollary " A new unscientific fallacy does not triumph by proving its assertions and moving the scientific compass forward, but rather because its opponents are drowned out on social media, and a new generation is taught that the unscientific theory is the orthodox interpretation".*
