Yamaha NS 70T, your opinion needed.

There is only a few references on the Yamaha NS 70T speakers.
They look similar to the NS 670 in pictures I have seen.
Has any one here owned or used them before?

I read somewhere that they have cast woofers (generally, a real good sign) and titanium tweeters. Here is a link to one review...

At one time, I owned the NS-50T which was a 2-way version of the NS-70T but without the midrange and mid and high attenuators. The NS-50T was a very good jazz speaker. Compared to the later NS-200M, the lack of a midrange was telling. I think the NS-70T is going to sound very similar to the NS-200M. And yes, the woofer is cast. Good stuff.

Being a new comer to the Yamaha speaker experience, I have not heard the other models you mentioned.
The only ones I am familiar with are the NS 690 that I bought two weeks ago.
Would the NS 70T be similar to the NS 690?

The 690 and 70T will sound similar to the extent they share similar design elements such as a well braced and sealed cabinet, dome mids and tweeters and attenuator controls. The main difference between the two will be the sound of the midrange and tweeter. The cloth domes in the 690 trade slight amount of forwardness for more warmth. The 70T's titanium domes will give cymbals a brassy overtone that is not as prominent with the 690's cloth domes. Both are fine speakers.

Truthfully, I have only heard my NS 690 (III?) over an extended period of two weeks.
I thought I have Mark I because there is no foam, but maybe it is Mark III because of the wood colour.
Most likely not able to tell the difference from one model to the next.

The NS-690 Mk. I is at the top of my list. One of these days...

The 70t has a ten inch woofer. The tweeter is a soft dome and looks like a much cheaper version the your 690s tweeter. ......not in the same league..IMHO....

The speakers were still available, for some reason there were not much interest in them locally. The vendor who is a record collector told me that there were more interest in them from the eastern coast. They sounded pretty good so I bought them for my brother or for myself.

The dimensions are follows, slightly wider and not as deep, same height as the NS 690.
15" wide X 11 1/2" deep X 25" high

The NS 70T are 6 ohms so I am not sure if I should run them side by side (simultaneously) with the NS 690 that are 8 ohms on the same amplifier or not.

For some reason I am having trouble uploading some pictures, did not have this problem before.

Congrats! 6 ohm? My NS-200M's are 6 ohm 3-ways so I wonder if they are related.
