The Parasound Integrated goes for $2500. It has more power and a built in DAC. Granted it doesn't have meters. I never was a fan of those square knobs. That is a throwback to the 1970s.

These have been around for a few yrs. I would hazard a guess that these are a tough sale. Pwr meters are generally useless as they are calibrated for 8 ohms. Any deviation from 8 ohms & the meters are no longer accurate. Look @ the impedance graphs for the great majority of spkrs. Damn few, if any, present a constant 8 ohm load. They are a cosmetic feature @ best, even the green ones.
 
In 1978 I would have loved to be able to buy a CA-1010 for $600 - $2,285 today. The A-S3000 looks to be better, but not that much better for the price. Another reason buying vintage and bringing it up to snuff is still the better bang for the buck. However, if I was not on a limited budget, I'd buy one - truly "built like a tank".
 
if its a good as they are saying you should be able to drop it on the way home with nothing but a scratch then its plug and play for someone who is busy earning the cash to buy it rather than keeping old stuff working ..this needs to be out there if any good then in the future it will be worth repairing ..
i hope they engineered it with a mind for the repairer .. everything breaks at some point ...
 
With the build quality/features/architecture as described I'm surprised it's not more expensive even without the meters. Love the look, classic Yamaha cleanness and I love the switches. Too bad it doesn't have the classic Yamaha loudness control. I loved that on my CR-600 back in the day. Where in the hell would you even source high quality analog meter movements in this day and age anyway? I wonder if they tooled up and make them in house?Considering the low volume & high build cost the margin must be terrible. It's surprising this integrated made it to production. Seems like Yamaha may be making a statement? I like what they're saying. I want one.
 
A lot of copper in the chassis. Cost of manufacture drives the price up but I'd bet a good vintage unit not so pretty would suffice as well.
 
funny you should mention black ones ..i thought i was seeings when i clicked the link ..it was black then went silver ..might be my slow internet ..or was one of them adverts that you dont have to think about ..
