Your favorite rock drummers?

Bud Wofford (out of the Houston area). One of the best I ever heard, with natural talent and no formal training. He's no longer with us.
 
I’d normally say Jim Keltner or Mick Fleetwood, but since they’ve been mentioned already, I’ll opt for someone a lot lesser-known: the late Jerry Nolan of the New York Dolls. Sure, the Dolls’ sloppiness on stage and in the studio has been well documented, but Jerry was actually a powerhouse drummer with a lot of feel, and his drum work was an integral part of what made the original band so damn magical.

That pretty much explains/validates Motorhead in a nutshell.
 
Brian Downey of Thin Lizzy. One of the best rock drummers I’ve ever had the privilege of seeing live.
 
Suprised no one has mentioned Stanton Moore.
And for all the Zappa / Bozzio fans, Vinnie Calaiuta.

For simple 5 piece kits, of course Bonham was the best.
Levon Helm is good, not to bad of an actor too.

and.....who here doesn't love the work of Ron Bushy....many a dashboard has taken abuse because of him...
 
A few that stand out to me, at least in the rock genre.

I know Cobham tends to be more a jazz/fusion drummer, but he rocks, so i'll keep in this genre. :)
 
and i'd get the karmic equalivalent of herpes if i mentioned max weinberg right??? IMAO he's the luckiest drummer in show business. he blows.
