I do believe Zilch is showing some charge coupled crossover action there.
Its in the Econowave thread, quite aways back in the thread. Its an interesting crossover idea that is said to really smooth and improve titanium diaphragmed compression drivers. I just havent gotten my lazy ass some where that I can get a few 1.5 or 2.0 meg resistors! I'll have a quick report on its effect once I do. They are in wirenuts at this stage!

Yes, this is one of the best explainations of CC I have yet heard. I will have to say I havent had a horney snipe around any of my horns.

Is the Selenium 210 compression driver obsolete?
I was just looking at the PE catalog. The 210 driver appears on the website on sale but is absent from the catalog. The 220 driver is described as the 'replacement' for the 210. Right now the price difference for singles is like $20/unit or something.
Maybe I need to order some 210s now. I don't want to have to pay an extra $40 for my next project.

I was also reading the PE catalog last night. I didn't see it before but there's a neodymium version of the D220Ti, the D2500Ti-Nd (264-274). It is $44 more than the D220Ti. I have always liked Nd magnet used in the high frequency drivers (e.g. the JBL 2435HPL$$$ and my old Alpine car tweeter). It slots nicely between the B&C/BMS and the D220/210Ti. Anyone has experience on this driver? I just received the D220Ti so won't be trying out this one anytime soon.
The D2500 uses the same diaphragm as the D220Ti so the sound should be similar. The spec is slightly different than the D220Ti:
Specifications: *Power handling: 80 watts RMS/160 watts program (with recommended 2,000 Hz, 12 dB/octave crossover) *Voice coil diameter: 1.7" *Throat diameter: 1" *Impedance: 8 ohms *Frequency response: 1,000-22,000 Hz (no crossover) *SPL: 111 dB 2.83V/1m *Magnet weight: 4.05 oz. *Dimensions: Diameter: 3.15", Depth: 1.5", 2.2" including threaded "nose".

The center brace will have to go. ( At least with this driver. The Selenium is flatter. ) It does fit the front opening. One more pic og the W'guide face down on the front baffle.

A friend just brought his 12 year old nephew over to see my workshop. I was showing them my eWave speakers and we got the idea to test our hearing. I'm 50 Y/O and I clearly heard output to 14K. My friend is 38 and didn't hear past 10K. The 12 year old passed the 20K test with flying colors. I told him to stay out of dance clubs, off motorcycles, away from guns and roll up the windows in the car if he doesn't want to end up missing an octave like his uncle.
That's all the fun I get today. back to the shop, where the rest of my workday involves replacing every single semicondictor, a dozen resistors and who knows what all else in the most comprehensively blown up Phase Linear 700 II I've ever seen. It's almost easier this way, when everything looks like it's been attacked with a welder. I just scrape the particles out and start over.

Had a box on the front porch when arriving home from work today. Parts Express and guess what was inside. Not everything in the pic is from PE, obviously. Looks like a fun weekend coming.
