I guess I'd have to reserve comment until I hear one of Earl's horns. Something that I have been looking forward to but the opportunity has never arose.

I first heard an full blown Edgar system back in the late 90's at a Audio Society of MN meet (I believe it was) and was not incredibly impressed. I didn't know anything about Bruce or his work at the time and pretty much forgot about the speaker. In retrospect and now realizing how temperamental these horns can be, standing in the side corner of a very crowded room probably wasn't helping matters as my own experience with them many years later changed that opinion.

If there are other people in the room, I am focused on them not the uber fine points of the music or my system, yes I have friends, but I do all my criticial listening by myself.

So, more people less :music: ?

I think it's cool to increase the opportunities for more people to :music: now and then. Especially in living spaces where the seating and the speakers can't be adjusted in position much.

I have this thread and Zilch to thank (along with Duff for the insperation) for being able to build my Barzi-waves. While granted, they aren't Zilch's true vision of E-wave, he guided me the whole way, and shared his Z19 crossover to complete the project.

Zilch spent a lot of time talking to me, and at one time out of the blue sent me a copy of Loud Speaker Design Cookbook to help me better understand speaker design and building.

His knowledge and this thread took me to a whole new realm in sound, and in understanding soundwaves, drivers, and enclosures.. and crossovers.. and well.. the list just keeps going...

What a great tribute making this thread a sticky!
 
I knew that the title change in my subscription posting notice was not going to be good news. I've been having "All That Jazz" visions of the 'Z' Meister since the thread took this turn and been awaiting a more optimistic resolution, having done the ride to the hospital and quad bypass thing myself.

Tho' I didn't personally know him but like so many others here we are related by the EconoWaveguide loudspeaker project and he WILL be missed and fondly remembered for his patient and gentle knowlegable guidance.

He slowly raised monument for himself during his lifetime. Not many of us can say that for themselves.

Every thing about econowave that he did was free. He gave away his knowledge for free. That's very rare nowadays. There aren't enough gentleman of that sort today.
 
Not sure if this has already been discussed elsewhere, but it would be nice to get some speaker badges made so they can be "named", like "E-wave".

Other "models" I guess are Indignias, Barziwaves, etc.

Would be a nice touch to add these logos to speakers when they are finished. Maybe something AK or Zilchlab could sell at a modest price? Even create some serial numbers for them, perhaps?

Apologies if this has already been discussed prior. I have plans to make some E-waves at some point myself, but have not been able to keep up with this thread.

I could provide those at a wholesale price (albeit a low qty one). I believe someone else here can also provide them through their work. We could have some kind of design contest/poll thread?
 
These got done a while ago but I was waiting for Zilch to come back to post.

A long time coming and started with a free pair of 2214h and a push from Gordon and Zilch to build the new idea of econowave back in March 2008- it was only at post #35. I could/would never have tried a project like this on my own - pretty boxes are easy - but crossovers were out of reach until this thread. Anyway, these are built with the standard kit and sound great to me - never measured, just enjoyed.
