100,000 even 200,000 mile vehicle club

Running an 1987 D-150 Dodge 1/2T long box with that trusty 318 & 727 AT. with a odometer that only goes up to 100K in KM, and we don't really know how many times it has turned over as it was purchased by my father second hand in the mid 90's from the local Ford dealer. It spent several winters basking in dry AZ and wasn't driven in the winter a lot by the rust on it as he drove it very little in the winter. It probably has at least 250K KM or 150K miles as he for sure put 100k KM on it. Those engines seem to run forever if given proper maintenance and not abused. The Mopar mags say all the engine blocks (from the slant 6 to Big Block) were high Ni and so wore well and were strong and this continued to the end (about 2003). Hopefully the Hemi continued this! There are great affordable replacement aftermarket heads for the Magnum (used from the early 90's) ones that cracked also plus Trick Flow just introduced really nice aluminum heads for the SB after first making ones for the BB.

Second hand rusty 1993 and 95 Ram 5.9 Cummins 2500 cub cabs , both with 4WD and 275 and 325K KM respectively, bought used. from original owners. recently. I did put 25K on the 93, but std trans (Gretag 360) now needs a rebuild. The 95 needs rust repair, steering linkage from the box to column, and maybe AT work, for safety to put on the road.

Have a few T-Birds 94 and 96 that are super reliable with 200K KM /120K miles 4.6L V8 (they need an improved plastic intake manifold though as the original cracks and leaks coolant )

Had a 89 Festiva 4 sp I put 200K KM on as a commuter and it was super reliable. 1st and only new car, but it was cheap to buy and I was very sick at the time.

1965 Acadian Beaumont 4 door parts car (I have a ragtop I am restoring) that is in great shape, with 150K miles, but the 230 6 needs bearings as it was driven too hard by it's previous second owner.

1970 250 Mercedes Benz. bought second hand with now 155K miles and needs some rust repair and AT trans rebuild. The dual carb 6 made it fun to drive and seems built to last for ever.

Have second hand 1974 C-2500 that was bullet proof and has 170K miles, but needs a new bed (rust) and front fenders.

Second hand MB 250 with the twin carb

This is my lowest mileage vehicle, an '88 Volvo 245 with 115,000 miles, it should outlast me

1972 Alfa Romeo Spider, 120k.
1972 Alfa Romeo Berlina, 120k.
1983 Alfa Romeo GTV6, 240k.
1987 Alfa Romeo Milano Verde, 150k.
1999 VW Beetle Diesel, 245k..
2001 Dodge Ram 2500, 145k.

I've probably got more. Sold the wifes BMW X3 with 130k miles on it earlier this year. I put most of the miles on the Dodge above, many of the miles on the others. I do most of the maintenance myself.

bs

Sitting at 232K or something in that range on my 2002 Lexus IS300. Drivetrain on those is damn near bulletproof and the rest of the car is also holding up very well.

We found this four blocks away from home, after searching all the surrounding states for something similar. I knew it needed a few things going into it, but given we paid more than $2K below the going price, I've put money into it and we're still ahead of the game. The interior and exterior look excellent. 2005 TSX, 188K miles. This is after a day spent doing paint correction and applying two layers of AvalonKing Armor Shield ceramic coating. (I'm waiting for the front splash shields for the brakes before reassembling the front steering knuckles and reinstalling.) The color is Nighthawk Black Pearl, which has predominantly blue (with a little turquoise and purple) flake.

Better pics once I get it reassembled, and can drive it out to the Metropark for photos.

I had an '84 Scirocco once with about 240K miles on it when I sold it and it compression checked as new. I should have never sold that car.

I may actually be buying back the car that replaced it, a 2002 GTI 1.8T, that I sold to my parents in about 2005 when I had financial troubles due to changes at work. I don't know how many miles are on that now.

I am currently DDing a 2000 Jeep Cherokee with about 280K miles, but it is not in "good" condition by any stretch of the imagination, it is a complete beater.

Shoot, I knew of a white one in Ohio for sale, which had the Euro front and rear bumpers. Similar year. Just sold a day or two ago.

This is my current daily driver - a 1971 Volvo P1800E coupe with only 118,000 miles.
AKA "The Poor Mans Ferrari" for 'Styling' when painted red. Nice!

If hasn't been mentioned.. Had a Friend w/a mercedes with the 500,000 mile badge on it. You can't buy those, the dealer who knows or reads your maintenance records puts one on. Think volvo did that for a while.

Thanks. They are pretty.

Funny thing is, the "Poor Man's Ferrari" was designed by a Swede working for the design firm of Frua in Italy. Volvo didn't admit that until 2009. The fact that the son of an engineering consultant to Volvo designed the car almost doomed the project when the managing director of Volvo learned of it, until he saw the design.

Volvo did have mileage badges, and gave special ones to Irv Gordon for his 1967 P1800 when he reached a million miles, then 2 million, and finally 3 million.

The Hemis are not this reliable or this durable. Especially any with MDS. They're having problems often. And their automatic transmissions are less robust too. The older Dodge trucks were much better in terms of mechanical longevity pre-Hemi.

Volvo had their High Mileage Club for many years, my once 1997 960 was a member with nearly 300,000 miles.

I drove an ‘84 Civic off the showroom floor in November ‘83. Put 190,000 miles on it over the next 10 years, then gave it to my brother in law. He put another 60,000 or so on it before it gave up the ghost.

Had a 2003 Jetta 2.0 we called the Hard Luck Jetta after it was t-boned, sideswiped and backed into over the years. Mechanically, it was solid as a rock for 155,000 miles. Still had its original clutch, as did the Honda.

‘89 Saab 900S, well over 100,000 (broken odometer)

‘94 Volvo 960. Bought with 70K on it, put another 50,000 on it. Made the mistake of trading it in for a Subaru Impreza.

Right now, my current favorite car - a 2003 VW Passat GLX wagon (V6) with 110,000 miles... Comfortable, fast & fun...

And my 'utility' vehicle, a 1999 Jeep Cherokee Limited with over 230,000 miles....

Update on this post: I traded the 231K mile Jeep for a 2006 Toyota 4Runner Sport, in excellent shape, but with 189K on it... I loved the Cherokee, but this is a real nice upgrade in ride quality, with more power, better fuel economy, nicer interior & much more quiet... I hope to drive it a long time....
