rich solved a problem I was having with level matching or whatnot with the SPEC-2(powerin the shiva's), I couldn't get enough output. Well, I inserted another preamp(Adcom GTP-500II) between the KA-9150's pre-out's and the SPEC-2's main-in's. Now I have individual level control over my stereo subs!

complete control over them adire shiva's has rewarded me with the deepest, richest, room-filling tones I've ever heard! :yes:

they compliment the AR9's very nicely!

yep, a pair of 70Hz filter's inline with the SPEC-2's main-ins

have them placed in the same place(each end of the couch), just rotated so that each woofer is facing away from the listening area. Has completely enveloped the entire room.

Knowing what my one DPL-12 -- an updated Shiva with deeper reach, but a touch less sensitive -- can do, I can only sit here in great envy of your two Shivas and am speechless about what you're using to power them.

Have you played Jurassic Park yet and checked to watch the water slosh in a glass on your coffee table during the T-Rex scene? I can never get tired of that.

Well, I was thinking about my Jurassic Park laserdisc, which is only two-channel as well. Don't have the DVD for some reason. If you really want to give those a subs a work out with just music, grab Massive Attack - Mezzanine and see if you can knock those plants off. It's techno/trip-hop, but it's actually good, musical and not repetitive.

Ditto the Massive Attack, their song "Butterfly Caught" will satisfy both your high and low end needs. You NEED to listen to that Those things should look pretty nonchalant once you get your covers on em.

but I have identified the cause of the most irritating racket I was hearing, the g'darned clean-air intake vent for the furnace is installed in the wall directly accross from the left sub. :cry:

I originally had the FMOD's installed after the secondary pre (shiva-controller ), at the SPEC-2 I/P's. Moved them in front of the secondary pre(ala hp). Shivas now seem to be a little punchier, hard to tell for sure?? Anyone??

I'm guessing a bit here, but I believe that stacking FMODs doesn't decrease the frequency, but rather increase the slope of crossover. So, one FMOD will give you 12 dB down per octave, two connected to each other should give you 24 dB, but still at 70 Hz. So, instead of having, at say a 90 dB listening level, 78 dB of signal from your subwoofers at 140 Hz, you'd end up with 66 dB, which should improve the overall sound by making it harder to locate the subs.

And if not, hopefully someone will be quick to correct me.
