2010-11 College Basketball

didn't see any of the KU game, but the score reflects a pretty casual win over a solid CU team.

Purdue looked gassed early, and I thought they would get it done with about 5 minutes to go, but MSU had more to play for, and showed it. Like you said, Scuzzer, look on the bright side. Rest, practive, and let Wisconsin and OSU beat each other up for a few more days.

UConn wins its 4th game in 4 days in the bloody meatgrinder that is the Big East tournament, beating Syracuse in only one overtime. Now its time for Notre Dame-Lousiville, and I think the Mackeral Snappers will win tonight, tomorrow and be a #1 regional seed. UConn simply has to be out of gas enough to beat a rested Notre Dame(which btw, hasn't advanced yet).
 
Kemba Walker, just too much. That guy is unreal.

I was hoping for more from Fab Melo, but should really know better. Time for the Orange to rest up, looking at a 3 seed?

Other half is happy due to the Michigan State win, and especially so after I told her I didn't think they would make the tourney. Crow for dinner tonight.
 
UConn playing best game of the season. They started hot and so far are finishing hot. IIRC no team has won a conference title by winning 5 straight. We may be looking at history being made tomorrow night.
Love to see a Walker vs. Hansbrough match up.

I go this far into the season before I make a prediction, and, of course, it's off target. UConn and Louisville (who played vicious defense to come from so far back to beat ND) have both played, and won, four games in four days, will be on even exhaustion footing tomorrow night in the Huge East finals. It will be brutal and beautiful.

It took quite a bit of drama to get me to switch away from the aforementioned game in the final four minutes, and man, did Virginia Tech provide it, narrowly beating FSU, and sealing a bid to the Big Dance.

Wosconsin and Penn State both proved they still had an ugly game in their systems to work out, and PSU was slightly less ugly. Worst quality of play that I've seen this year, and it ws from two good teams from a good conference. Who knew. Life is getting easier for The Ohio State University, with every decent in the Big Ten team playing like ****.

Duke suffered another crippling toe injury today, with Nolan Smith being the victim. I love seeing Duke being defeated, but not like this. They play on, but even more crippled up.
 
Providence College couch Keno Davis ousted. PC doesn't belong in the Big East, nor will they ever belong (never say never ever). Hapless De Paul had a single win over a Big East team this year. Guess who? Providence College is who. Big East quality recruits go to UConn, Syracuse, Georgetown, Pitt, Villanova, or St. Johns not PC. With few exceptions like Marshon Brooks and Lamarr Odem. The Dunkin Donuts Arena is not a class act for playing big time games. Shanley and Driscoll aren't savvy enough to draw quality couches plus small Catholic PC has little to offer. They will go after Pitino again but Pitino's not going to leave Lousville for PC. Pitino took PC to the Final Four in 1987 and PC has been living in the past ever since. But the Marvin Barnes, Ernie D's and Billy Donovan's of 1987 types don't come around PC anymore. Sad in a way but also in a way poetic justice. PC is considered the elite team in RI at the expense of a very good and scrappy URI Rhody Rams mens basketball team. And so while I wish PC well in it's hunt for a quality couch and some stability for their men's basketball team, it's a major uphill battle.
As for me, I am a long time fan and alumnus of the UConn Huskies, both men's and woman's basketball teams. Jim Calhoun is a prime example of what the right man in the right place with the right backing can do. NCAA violations not withstanding. I look forward to the Big Dance. My prediction: Kansas take all.

Edit: I see in today's Providence Journal that PC has enlisted the help of Mike Tranghese, former Big East Commissioner and respected administrator. A step in the right direction in their head coach search. Also that PC is prepared to match or exceed Davis' salary of $800,000. That won't get them competitive with the upper crust of the Big East but should buy them a respectable coach for a respectable showing.....maybe. The alternative is to leave the Big East, arguably the toughest conference in the NCAA, and join the ACC. Doubt that that will happen though as PC was one of the founding schools of the Big East.

How about that VT - FSU finish. It had the VT coach crying tears of joy. Great stuff. Now they get to take on the Dukies again. We beat 'em last time, but past performance is no guarantee of future performance (or so my broker tells me).
 
My 'Horns are looking a little better in the Big 12 Tournament than they looked the last couple of weeks of the regular season. I'm looking for them to take out KU again:smoke:
 
End of the road for Maryland

Losing to Duke in the second round of the ACC tournament.

All year long, it's basically been.....Jordan Williams and the Seven Dwarfs.
Maryland's seniors NEVER stepped up their game, and no one could hit an outside shot all year? :nono:
A few of the freshman this year did show some promise, and next year's freshman class looks decent?
IF.....Jordan Williams does NOT jump to the NBA this year, Maryland MIGHT make some noise in the 2011-12 season?

Not sure where the magic is coming from, but ever since the loss to Duke, the Tigers have been playing like their shorts are on fire. Whoever has to play them next, look out................
 
this is what Kansas looks like playing well and as a team, and not the Morris brothers and a few guys to feed them the ball. With Robinson, Selby, Reed, Morningstar, and Taylor, what the hell are those two doing chucking up 3 pointers instead of playing double low post? When they stop trying to be ghetto all stars and get the other primo athletes on their team involved, nobody can stay with them. Nobody.
 
Well guys we are on vacation in Orlando Florida for the week but got to the resort just in time to watch our team win first place in the Big 12.

Already found a Jayhawk watch party so we can join with some locals to watch the beginning of the NCAA.

KneeOhFight - I get sick of the Morris twins mouths and aggressiveness. They always bring bad press to our team and KU usually has a squeaky clean image.
 
Congratulations to UConn. They may be our rivals but no one can deny that the show they put on in the Garden was spectacular.
