There is a Marantz 300DC for sale that I'm considering. My question is, would I be able to use my Marantz 2275 as a preamp with it?

Of course! I'm using my 2245 as a preamp to a 240 amp. Just route a pair of RCA cables from the Pre-outs on your 2275 to the inputs on your 300DC, and you're ready to rock and roll!

One of the great things about these receivers (Marantz and others that used external jumpers between the pre-amp and the amplifier) is they were designed to function just like separate components on a single chassis, so hooking an external amp to your receiver through the pre-outs is just like upgrading the internal amp on your receiver to whatever you're using as the external. Hook the speakers to the external amp, and the whole set-up will work just like the original receiver did. Volume, balance, tone are all controlled from the receiver, and external equipment is hooked up and selected by the receiver just like normal. It's a very neat way to get the best of all worlds!

Almost forgot one caution: it's good you're considering a 300DC, because it has its own power switch and can be powered from an ordinary outlet. Other amps, like the 250 and 240, have no power switch, and are usually powered by the switched outlet on the pre-amp. This can cause a lot of stress on the somewhat weak OEM power switch on most Marantz receivers, and I'd recommend upgrading the receiver's power switch to at least a 6 amps capacity, dual pole unit. Fortunately, they're readily available, fit perfectly, and are cheap. Check with dgwojo elsewhere on this forum. He'll set you up with what you need.

I ran my 2275 as a pre-amp to a Crown DC150A. Worked very well.
All the beauty of the Marantz curcuit "warmness" and the clean clear power of the Crown.
What's the bottle neck?

The 2275 pre-amp has the same S/N ratio as a 3600 pre-amp. Sure there are other pre-amps which can better that, but the O/P's 2275 has as many inputs as he'll probably need (only he can say), and the output is as good as any Marantz of similar vintage. What's more, he already owns it, which saves the bucks of a dedicated pre-amp. I repeat, where's the bottle neck?
It should work fine. I use a 2230 as a preamp for a Phase Linear 400. The PL400 does some funky things at power-up and power-down (no protection relay), so I do the following sequences:
Power-up: 1) Turn on 2230, set volume all the way down; 2) Disconnect speakers from PL400 if not already disconnected; 3) Power up PL400 and let it settle for 10 seconds (meters show transients); 4) Connect speakers; 5) Turn up 2230 and listen!
Power-down is pretty much the same thing backwards.
