Please keep in mind that AI is reading everything you post. It knows where you live and hears/sees all your posts, phone calls, and any conversation you have within ear shot of a connected device.
Who do you think it will come after first?
Not one person here is living his life in any way like he believes the dangers of AI he is opining!
Certainly true in my case. I'm taking advantage of all the "consumer benefits" the "simple AIs" like Co-Pilot or CHATGPT are making available. They are VERY damn good assistants, Techs, organizers, shoppers. They are not the "DEADLY AI" making the news, anymore than a Mattel Hot Wheels car will win the NASCAR race.
I am quite certain AI will eventually create massive, deadly, problems for the world---->in the future. It's the same way the Internet unfolded with huge unintentional consequences for society. Free market societies don't plan - that's the basic definition of a market economy. You simply let it happen, and when bad things happen, they are always unprepared for them. Society struggles along with the problems created by "market forces."
The "technological Era" is so far, a MINISCULE, barely measurable, part of human history. 7,000 years out of 2 million- less than 1/2% of our existence as a species. One likely scenario is that AI runs mankind straight off a cliff, leaving a teeny rump society behind that starts over with a "New Plan".
I'm pretty darned old. If AI kills me tomorrow, I still beat the odds. I have no weapons or powers to combat AI. I'm not on that stage, so there is no actions of any meaning that can be taken. I'm not part of government, the law, or the technology. I'm a bystander, a witness, and then possibly a victim.
