Any cat lovers here?

This kitten was hanging around the dumpsters where my wife works. She and a couple of the ladies that work with her were trying to feed the little girl, but she wasn't eating much and was shivering, wheezing, and sneezing,...clearly pretty sick. On Thursday morning, the ladies were able to live trap her, so we took her to the vet for treatment. Poor little girl was diagnosed with a respiratory infection, fleas, feline mites, a tick, and worms, but her heart and lungs are strong and she tested negative for feline leukemia. The vet was able to treat her for most everything, vaccinate her for rabies and feline distemper, and gave us a 7-day regimen of antibiotics to give her.

Sunnah (my wonderful wife is from Saudi Arabia, so all of our cats get Arabic names ) is currently in quarantine in our basement garage away from our other cats, and we will be fostering her for at least the next few weeks. She's eating well and getting her meds regularly. Her wheezing and sneezing is mostly gone, so she's on the road to recovery. Once Sunnah is fully recovered, we will schedule to have her spayed. In the meantime, we will work on socializing her. We haven't decided whether to adopt or re-home her just yet, but we have time before we need to decide (if we can socialize her, I'm leaning towards adoption :)).

Post again, these journeys are my favorite thing in the world.
So right now it's in the pen for a little while to get used to the normal noise & chaos around here. For the past few hours she has been huddled up in her litterbox but sometime after midnight decided it was time to make some noise for attention and cheek rubs, she got up on her own and has been going in circles against the pen walls so this is progress. She really likes attention but is very uneasy about the world around her so I feel the normalizing is the best direction while working on the one-on-one trust using food reinforcements at random times of the day.

I have a couple tortilla eating cats now
I got some soft tortillas out of the frig for the raccoons tearing them up in pieces and noticed a couple of the cats going after and eating them. So I started tearing little pieces off and they were going after it like it was chicken (they are well fed btw)
You just never know

That's cool
I get the extended prolonged tail dance every time I'm standing there with the door open and they walk right up to the threshold and stop and just stand there mulling their decision whether or not to come in

So meet Pretty Mama, a work in progress. Very timid and has little trust for the world so I'm working on socializing and building trust with her. All she wants to do is hide from the world under the chair or couch so I built the pen to be like a hiding spot where she can look out on her terms, yeah this is going to be a challenge. We're trading slow blinks, a good start.

Pretty girl.

Little update, Pretty Mama is now out of the pen and learning to be a cat again with the help of Sumi and both have been chasing one another around almost nonstop. She's still a little skittish but is learning to trust, can't pick her up yet but she now flops over for the tummy rubs and really gets into the heat bunts.
One thing I found interesting was Sumi was trying to nurse from Fatso and he made no effort to set her straight, they're quite close and I'm starting to wonder how she'll be in two weeks for her first adoption event. Wherever Fatso is Sumi is not far behind and on the bed they're cuddled up tight.

I have two females that I got from the vet they were about six months old and were the last two from a litter they had spent their entire life in a locker basically
Anyway I was really frustrated with them but they are doing great now
But yeah one always tried to nurse from the other one I guess they were really needy
I had to have a lot of patience it literally took months for them to chill out
For instance I would be at work gone for 14 hours and they hadnt moved from a hiding place
I seriously wondered if they would ever come around it took a few months but they are doing great

From the last few pics, it was looking a lot like you had another cat.

It happens.

5am this morning and POUNCE! Someone decided to land squarely on my head believing it was something they needed to attack for the fun of it. All four have been zooming around since leaving me to pick up all the papers and everything else they see fit to knock down.

Welcome to the Animal House.
