If by "coaxial cable" you mean a standard "interconnect" (even a hi-end one) try a dedicated digital cable. A world of difference.

Sorry for the interrogation, but ...What do you guys love about it? Have you compared it to the Digital-Out of a regular CD or DVD player? Is it clearly superior? Can you describe how? Do you use the Coxial or Optical output to connect to the DAC?

I have compared it to several other players with my DAC it is clearly better. Better weight, tonal balance and timing. Really organizes music is in a way that supremely listenable. My DAC has one input and that is Coax. I use a Black Cat digital coax cable to connect them.

I've compared it with my Yamaha DVD-S2700 (which I still use for SACD playback) and Onkyo C-7030. I've listened to CD playback on both using the player's built-in DAC and as transports. To my ears, the Audiolab is a significant improvement. More detail. Bigger bass. No fatigue. I've not experimented with the optical out.

^^^ would agree with both of the above listening to my dads in his system (and this is with the Modi I gave him also, “cheap” DAC).

Love mine…paired it with a Topping E30 using the coax. The Audiolab and Topping combo is an appreciable step up from my old NAD player. And in 5 years, when the itch arrives, I can just upgrade the DAC.

I've only compared it with all in one CD players and the biggest difference for me is a 3 dimensionality that I've not experienced before with the silver disc.

Great choice! I was a little skeptical in transports, but I needed a new system a while back and went with both the CDT>6000a...and wow...it definitely delivers music with more depth and detail when compared to my old all-in-one.

Yeah, I would think after the turntable disaster, they would want to establish a basic disc spinner at a reasonable price before jumping into 1.5k waters. My Pioneer CDJ-200 is starting to get glitchy, I'm considering this Audiolab and the Cambridge Audio CXC.
